Argh, Professors!
As the Oscars ended with The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, I found a message from my thesis chair with harsh and discouraging comments regarding my thesis drafts. That bitter aftertaste ruined my good weekend and dashed my hopes. The project I was working on is under a different professor who complimented them and said that I whould think about scheduling my thesis defense. However, the thesis chair said that it’s a long time before I can think about that. Looks like he’s trying to delay me from getting my Masters. Well, I’m not surprised. He is one of the hardest professors, and many students complain about him. He is also intimidating and hard to get a hold of.
I hate professors in general, and so do many of my friends. I knew since my freshman year in college that professors suck! They are often subjective, rude, and arrogant, not knowing how to teach and only caring about their research. Some professors even yelled and insulted students who asked questions. That’s why some of my friends can’t imagine them eating, and I can’t imagine them taking care of kids, doing nice things, or having fun. They’re too booksmart, and don’t know how to get along with people.
Professor Umbridge from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix reminds me of many professors. I hated her: evil, selfish, arrogant, controlling, abusvie, and deceitful. That’s roughly the impressions many students have on professors. Other people who read the book agreed with me. According to Rowling, umbirdge has something to do with darkness. Professor Snape also reminds me of my professors: sinister and biased.
