Soft Song

How about another love song
Where the lyrics tell a story —
Sing along my lovely one
So I can feel it more.

Why can’t I hear you singing?
This song is all for you.
Open up your voice, my dear,
And sing the song of through and through.

I feel your chest exhaling,
And sounds gleaming forth;
I wish for more sweet ringing
Through the halls on this Fourth.

Nugent in one ear,
Godsmack in another;
Your breath still under my fingers,
And this heavenly sound of no other.
