My Intention (During Edit)

Because I’ve been meaning to clean my room but have failed miserably to do so as of yet, I figured I’d follow Caitriona, mrowsera and _Smallville_ in the posting of before and after photos to help inspire me to clean my damn room. It’s not like I’ve got a lot of space to deal with, so I should keep it as clean as possible so I can pretend it’s bigger.

You can see the whole set on my flickr account. Visiting the flickr pages would be beneficial because there are notes. And image notes are the coolest thing ever. Still.

Also, the whole bettering myself: health thing isn’t working too well at the moment as I’ve gained 5 pounds or so in the past few weeks. Boo. I’ve decided to go back to the door to door organics box for the majority of the food I intend to consume. It should go hand in hand with bentos, so we’ll see how that goes. I signed up for a local bitty box on a weekly basis. I’m excited to get that started again.

And now I’ve got to head out (without having the chance to clean – boo) because I’m crazy and even when I request a day off from work, I fill it with other obligations. Stupid. My obligation today is driving all the way down to my mom’s and helping with rearranging storage. Though evidently my help is also requested to help Hannah move in. To my mom’s. She’s a younger co-worker of my mom’s and her dad kicked her out I guess. So it’s totally cool that my mom’s doing that, but I’ll be honest, it makes me a little bitter. But whatever, I’ll leave as soon as possible so that I can spend most of my evening cleaning my room and doing whatever I want to do. We’ll see how that goes.

When I clean, I pile. It’s like a really complicated game of tower of hanoi or something. I end up taking various breaks from the heavy lifting work to sort through crap (which is part of my biggest problem – not having a workable organizational system). Or just taking a break, period.

Click through to see the other two new pictures from the “during” phase.

These pictures were taken with my iSight, so Kyle (and perhaps some others) will have noticed that my computer and desk are now in a different area. We’ll see how this works. So far so good and it feels like I’ve got more room here too. Though that could be due to the fact that all the junk that was piled on top of my desk is piled elsewhere at the moment.

I think I’m going to organize my altered book stuff and then put my sewing crap under my bed and go to sleep. That should take care of a lot of it so that I’ll just have the clothes/closet area and under the window area to deal with tomorrow night. Hopefully I’ll be able to post pictures of my completed, awesomely clean room tomorrow. We’ll see, though.

I love this trend. Seeing other messes makes me feel better, and posting pictures does make it seem more like a game for me. I hope you get some time to work on yours!

Steve has asked plaintively if we can avoid taking pictures of our mess, which, you know, isn’t as bad as it could be. 😛 I hope the pictures inspires everyone to tidy!

Yay challenge! There are some cluttered spots in this house that needs to be tackled as well… maybe I’ll join the trend tomorrow…

I love image notes on Flickr. My place is relatively clean and organized at the moment. I had a slumber party last weekend and we did a big clean in preparation. I’ve been trying to keep it clean since then. It’s sorta working. Can’t wait to see after pictures!

My room looked like that before I cleaned it up. I did so a month ago, and it still looks pristine – it was so nice to have a clean space again, I can’t bear to clutter it up!! :p

wow, your little room is a mess. I think I should get a flickr account. It looks neat. cb,

I think messes look even worse in pictures. But my lord, I expected you to be the most organized person ever! What with your Alter Book schedules and send outs and all that. But I guess we can all be guilty of being on the ball for one thing and a total procrastinator on another. I used to be much messier than I am now, but Clay gets freaked out if I start leaving stuff around (he’s a neat freak)so I can’t get away with it. It works well because it forces me to be neater. It’s his space too so I don’t have the right to make it unliveable for him, right? Anywho, good luck!~jo

my place is tidy at the moment (as in, there isn’t a lot of crap lying around), but it’s not CLEAN. In other words, you can’t see the mess 😛 hahaha.

See, my apartment is less messy and more dirty.

Excellent work! I have to try to get more stuff done myself today.

Is the picture of you reversed? If not then I have no idea how your room is set up. Either way, you look adorable. cb,

I did some vacuuming and cleaning of the kitchen today (which desparetely needed doing). Dishwasher. My Favourite thing. Tower of Hanoi. I remember seeing something about it before, but I’ve never played it. I think it would be cool to do. I notice Wikipedia says it’s a mathmatical game. Oh well, guess I won’t be trying it!

Tower of Hanoi is such a perfect way to describe the cleaning process. You aren’t alone in that one. It always gets much, much worse before it gets better but the time in between is so tedious and overwhelming and a lot of times that why I just leave piles where they are.

And I’ve been giving my kids grief over their messy rooms! It’s all about perspective, Mark… Heh. Kidding. Kind of. Can’t wait to see the after pics!
