Three nervous women
It all went well, I do believe. Folláin and I took a train up to New Haven and had lunch with Kay at a lovely place called Anna Liffey’s. Then we drove around New Haven, looking at the marvelous buildings and houses there. By the time Folláin and I headed back to the city, I do believe all three of us were breathing again! We smiled and laughed, too. It was good.
Sorry I haven’t been a proper noting sort of diarist lately. I’m bopping around all over the place all day, and once I get home there are many things demanding my attention. Tonight still waiting is Trouble’s litter, Nigel’s homework, and a bit more pickup of Nigel’s ever needy room. Egads, but what that place can get like! It’s frightening, and I’m hardly a neatnik, so if it scares me, I expect it would scare other people much worse. (In the not a neatnik department, my CDs all seem to have gone into hiding. I know they haven’t really, but I don’t know where they are, either.)
Starting tomorrow I shall be staying in an apartment with a friend for a week. It’s going to become a real vacation then. It’s strange, being on vacation without leaving the city when I am used to crossing an ocean, but the company will be fine. Lots of important talks will be had. We will do the sorts of things one doesn’t do when one lives here, like go to Central Park, and the Cloisters (I haven’t been there since forever ago, and I really love it there). Walking tours of interesting historical places. A walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Hopefully a couple of days of just hanging out and relaxing.
I worry sometimes that I’m odd, you know, needing times like this away from my children. Most people go on vacation with their children; I take vacation from my children. Well … I am odd, in more than one way, and that’s because I’m a human bean. We simply aren’t all made the same. It makes the world go round, I think.
i think plenty of people go on vacation without. we are all unique. happy vacationing.

I used to tell Hubster that “family vacation” is an oxymoron in my world. You’re not weird, m’dear. Have a fab time reconnecting with your fab city and friend! Much aloha,

You’re a delightful human bean! Neatniks are odd. If more mothers took vacations from their children, they would feel renewed. You’re wise doing that. Blessings from the muse for joy, harmony, love and laughter. Soul speak and heart speak. Being your own person you can do it. Love to you dearest Seeker.

Yikes, if I had kids, I would be on vacation from them a lot.

Nothing odd about needing time away from kids. Enjoy your vacation…peace and quiet. I know we all need that. Helps us regroup and hear ourselves think. Keeps our heads on straight. Glad you opened your ‘D’. Enjoy reading…thank you for sharing you. God Bless You & Yours Smiles Hugs ~Pinkie

We take vacations with our children if we don’t see them enough – from our children otherwise!

I think vacation from children is important – they need so much from a mum that going away from time to time is essential. My thoughts anyway.

I hope the weather holds out for you. We’ve been having some wonderful days so far. I am back at the grind of my three jobs. The overtime sustains me on the day job. Can’t retire yet… just holding on.
