Sun spotted
Well, it was … yep, there it is, peeking out onto the city. And the temperature should get no higher than the mid-70s (F, that is; we’d all be gone if that was C, of course). Soon I shall go on one of my jaunts, this time from the Lower East Side to the Upper West Side to fetch some Eman lox supplies from Zabar’s. I shall profit from this endeavor in more than one way, whittering time during transportation being one of those.
I don’t suppose that all my transportation time will be available for whittering though, as there are Reports on Summer Reading that were supposed to be done by Nigel over the past couple of months. Summer Reading and Nigel just don’t actually go together, except insofar as reading might be needed to figure out where to gather materials for his myspace, and when WWE will be on for his viewing pleasure.
On September 11, he and Eman will be attending a WWE event at Madison Square Garden. I am happy about that, as Nigel has ongoing PTSS regarding that day five years ago. I don’t know if I’ve written about it here, but his teacher was in the hallway when the first plane went into the WTC. She called the kids out (third grade) to see it, knowing this was a major event. So 20-odd third graders were all watching through a large window at the end of the hallway when the second plane hit. Somehow, being with his WWE heroes on the fifth anniversary of that day seems like a really good thing for my sweet, funny, sensitive OCD-Tourette’s angel. Who becomes a teenager this coming Friday. Eek.
And it will be a day after he returns from his special birthday weekend in Connecticut, which is the culmination of weeks of HINTING … ahem, hinting that he would really love to go there.
His mother will be working on her own transitions and changes and growth, pilgrim that she is. But for now, in the sunshine and lovely “yes, fall is on the way” temperatures, she shall merely journey to Zabar’s. How’s that for keeping it simple?
Ahhhhh ~C, keeping it simple sometimes is the easist way to sail through life, especially if you’re going up stream without a paddle. You and I emotionally are in the same boat at times, but facing opposite directions Hahaha, and I wan’t to go My way, or else…. I’m not playing anymore, so there!… Hehehe *Winks & Hugs and Lots ‘O’ LUV Bren

i am in some sort of shock over the natural reaction of a person being to have thrid graders watch. i am sure i must be missing something, but… you are a gentle pilgrim in this world that seems so off kilter to me lately. i am glad i know you here.

Keeping it simple is the only way to go : )

does Nigel have tourettes? This is the one thing that as a teacher I have no idea how to deal with. Any advice? Sorry to be ignorant. My goodness though, I can’t imagine the impact on a child of watching the plane hit live. I’m intrigued to know how his teacher dealt with that.

simple is good. it’s restful.

She called them out into the hallway?! Good grief. I was in high school at the time, and they wouldn’t even let us watch the coverage of it on the news. I hope he enjoys his day seeing the WWE people. And I hope you enjoy your little walk. 🙂

Oh, that poor teacher! (And the kids, too – but she was the one responsible for having them there.) I assume she thought a plane had accidentally slammed the building, as many people did. How she must have felt when she realised what she’d unwittingly showed those students!I hope you enjoyed your journeying and your whittering. And I hope you also enjoy Nigel becoming a teenager.

That would be quite an experience for a third-grader. It may be interesting to see what words he finds to articulate/describe it as he becomes an adult (which is right around the corner from Teenster-hood — Teenster only has about six more weeks as a teen — YIKES!). No laundry today?

Temperature has been rising over here, as spring is on its way. Still seems odd and I do miss the trees in fall. Hugs and kisses.
