Independence Day musings

Being rather daunted by the State of the Union at the present time, I want to say that my nation, the United States of America, has some importantly wonderful things about it. In spite of everything that is wrong with it at the present time, we do have a system that can and, I still have to believe, will set it on a right path again.

So I celebrate the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, and express here my faith in its ability to grow into a citizen nation of the world, which is a very much needed and (sorry, cowboys and greed mongers) inevitable evolutionary step we need to take.

I celebrate my growing personal independence today as well. My freedom to live completely as who I am, in all my mottled speckled glory, grows daily. I am free of alcohol and its companion drugs. I am free of the ideas of childhood that convinced me I was unlovable and unwanted. I am daily more free of the need to be someone who won’t be rejected, and daily more able to stand up for the woman I was born to be.

I give all credit to a Higher Power who knows just what S/He is dealing with, and works with what is given accordingly. I give thanks for the people who enter my life, those who take my hand and guide me and love me along the journey I am on, and those who teach me sometimes harsh lessons in what I don’t want to be or to have in my life. I give thanks for being acknowledged by and acknowledging, for honesty and openness (of mind, of spirit, of speech and action) and willingness to learn and change and be.

I send prayers up for those I know and love who are going through trying times, both near and far. I thank my HP and my angels that I can listen and love and care deeply.
