Nothing so much
A whitter and morning musings. May your Tuesday be safe and calm.
Child of Poe
There is a precipice
pebbles fall from the edge of it
whether they land and where
is never heard
the abyss wide and sinking into
eternal ebony
I have kicked the gravel there
dreamed of falling in
danced in wild abandonment on the lip
of darkness
Inside the cove formed by your arms
is my shelter
where I am moored
home port
my line secure and strong against
storms and tides
Hold fast and true
for this is where I would rest
sailing for your travels
under your guiding star
home again for our restoration
time in the haven of us
Too soon and without you
the abyss would pull me toward it
nothing to keep me from flying
into its bleak and open welcome

I claim the right to smile at people I don’t know. Here’s a thing I have learned; I think it is pretty important:
The lowest common denominators do not define or in any way represent the human race.
They can consume more periods of history than they ever should. That would be because there is this huge pot of middle people: they mean well enough, but thinking for themselves is just a bit more than they can handle. There are myriad reasons for this, but they are the reason for lots of strange things that go on in the world. Especially when a lowest common denominator type figures out a way to push their collective button.
Then there are the best. Some of them have found ways to be heard, at least a bit, through the nonsense the rest of them are spouting. You find them everywhere. They come here and write and leave notes. Sure, so do others, but many of them are very young; there is hope that one day, randomly, a lightbulb will go off over each of their heads.
Of all the hopes I have, the greatest and most enduring is for the human race. After all, each of us is, all of us are, absolutely magnificent.
“What a piece of work is man,
how noble in reason,
how infinite in faculty,
in form and moving how express and admirable”
William Shakespeare, Hamlet

Sunday night, an HBO Series, Deadwood, showed a man on the brink of a precipice and he was thrown over it in an act of murder. He did not have your life line nor any.

I also say Hi to strangers when I walk. People here say Hi back. 🙂

I think it can be hard to walk in other people’s shoes. And it’s harder still when the shoes don’t fit.The world for good or bad is a diverse place, and people come in many shapes and sizes…for that matter, so do shoes…BT
