That was fast!

Wow! I mean, okay, we weren’t dripping presents here, but sheesh! Everything is opened and given and oooohed over and all that sort of stuff!!! It was nifty. In a little while my husband will be making breakfast. We will have a warm shmoozy kind of day. I hope your day is a warm shmoozy kind of day too.

Wonder

The sporadic bites of crackling
small fire built and glowing
in a docile hearth of stone
only you and me
music and quiet for listening
a world away
the world away
trust alleviating the need for words
we curl up in its sturdy sweetness

Oh the fancies of an awful woman
reversing rituals midstream
because children with such good intentions
never sleep on Christmas Eve
so it’s stockings at night
gifts waiting coolly till morning
so fast the days bustle
miracles shine in their struggling eyes
and sometime tonight
the stars will kiss them into dreams
