Returning

I emerge
look into the sunlight
see it reveals the mirage
some call reality
and the streets are slushy gray morasses
transportation woes and winter clothes

In the small and fragile illumination
of the candle that burns only in my darkness
when I seek some internal truth
none of this striated illusionary detritus
stands between me and what is real
what I offer to God and to you

A caveat
my truth is manifold
for I have been to hell
and known heaven
so if you accept the offer
all of it will be revealed

I think we have to go to “hell” in order to know when we are in “heaven”. Kind of like the Sorrow and Joy thing. “The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.”..from Kahlil Gibran. This really resonates for me.
