Notes from a notebook

A fancy sort of notebook that costs a bit more than the composition books my kids use; but I’m thinking one of those would be handy, as long as none of us got mixed up in our notebooks. Oh that would be grand for people who read here, of course. You might find a fascinating discourse on the use and collecting of Beyblades courtesy of N (fever tried to do something stupid yesterday afternoon; cut off at the pass by R, family friend, with Children’s Motrin the weapon of choice), or perhaps an essay in defense of odd sorts of language by M (did you know that you don’t need to say “as a matter of fact”? You don’t … just say “maaafaa” … same thing; who knew?). I will definitely take a course in ebonics should I ever return to the halls of academe as I have a handy dandy expert right here in the family. Anyway, when I start using a composition book, watch for some exciting entries coming your way! I only hope that should one of my kids wind up with a bunch of whitters in science class, the teacher will go easy on him or her!

Right. First a haiku I sent off to a mailing list to which I belong that had a request for such things; then other whittery bits.

Soul coming awake
arising through the layers
as they fall away

~~~~~~~~~~
Our place
home
there
where I have lain
in fancy
in fact
Other places
hospitable in your presence
not tired
not sleeping
more than all right
beyond enough
Retreat
needed
here
for an enforced count of days
find serenity
knowing
Once
and one
discovered
a treasure
let it be
time enough to soar
Winter docility
hiding from the bite
winds of slicing ice cracking
into each other
balm in stardusted gazes
us
~~~~~~~~~~

There is a sylph who glides within
you cannot see her
she ducks behind cover
of solidity and winter layers

So light and silken in her movements
she winks from my mind
invites me to dance with her
in the sunlight mosaic of her native glen

She spreads her arms in welcome
to dive into her world
where love is so new
so divine an occupation
slipping between old enormous trees
kissing slender young replacements
forest sprite
damp with the dew of awakening
no wrong steps to take

I love reading these. I’m thinking of beginning a paper journal, hand writing the entries, scanning those pages and posting them to my journal here. It’s not an original idea maybe, but I like the concept.

Thankfully my daughter never tried to pick up that ebonics, she would have found her life rather difficult, I won’t suffer that way of talking at home, it was bad enough to have to try & decifer it when I was working :/

Is, “Yo Mom, Dude!” ebonics? ::sigh:: Nice haiku, very very nice. Hugs,

I like that haiku! Aren’t they fun to compose? There was a diarist who posted only haiku – commentary about his life, about the world in general, all sorts of things – only in haiku. That was some time ago, I think, on FOD. The only one I ever did was about Star Trek, of all things: Picard leads the charge Light rays bouncing off his head Klingons run in fear 🙂 That’s entertainment!

love the haiku 🙂 if you alternate the childrens motrin with childrens tylenol, it seems to work better for fever.. tho i have no clue why.

Thanks to caller ID when I call my son he always answers, “Yo! Ma!” I love it. 🙂

Well, as long as ebonics is only one of the languages she learns, guess it’ll have to do sometimes, huh. LOL about your whitter books! Better keep Mom’s a little different … wouldn’t want her kept after school ; ) Like the whitters, especially the little sylph one. Hope N heals up quick. Enjoy TGIF! Hugs and Smiles

RYN: I suppose she’ll have to learn some things the hard way. :/

Penetrating words. I think I love you… well.. At least your writing. *S* *hug*

it’s wonderful to have notebooks. i have a lifelong blank book obsession — a tendency to buy them and either never use them or fill in the first few pages with some grand idea and then never finish it. 🙂 i have a great one now, though, that is really an artists’ sketchbook/notebook. i love that paper that soaks up the ink.

jenny uses that language too. really nice haiku! 🙂

You are so talented I went to a poetry group once and learnt to write haiku’s and I enjoyed them…if I find one chuckles i will share with you and remember it is nothing but a virgin effort huggs huggs huggs

Oh I’m hopeless with note books. Lovely whitters. Sweet dreams, dear poet. Smiles & Hugs

I want to get a note book too. ryn: Yes, I was (am) at ITW too, although I’m not really sure where I am. Thank you for your note.

speaking of ebonics…omelette you ride this one out. your writing is supurb as usual.

I get lessons in ebonics and slang daily. For instance, I learned only yesterday that someone who is very comely is “toe up” — that is, they look good from the toe up. 🙂 I agree about the haiku and all your whitterings. It isn’t often one gets the chance to use the word slyph. Hugs,

I’d never heard “maaafaa” either. Heck, I don’t even know what Beyblades are. Is there still hope for me? I haven’t written a haiku in a long time. I think I will this weekend.

hope you are doing well. speaking of a notebook. i’m going to buy one now. thanks for the reminder. ryn: and the complexity within is disheartening. xoxo,

*slivers of my heart are feeling olverwelmed* it’s hard to know if i like it or not, nonetheless i sit amazed to how uneversal your poetry is, and how much it sings my song. *sigh*

*smiles* sorry I haven’t been by been having a lot going on, and then busy for Christmas.. Ugh I still have lots of shopping to do, but it will have to wait until next weekend when I get another paycheck.

Soul coming awake arising through the layers as they fall away ~ i can relate to this so much 🙂 do you feel these things too, when you write your whitters? of course you do (smiles). so we are on the same journey, aren’t we. *hugs*
