Sick kid

N is sick. He got sick while having his very long anticipated Weekend with J, aka The Great Kid Swap. I don’t know how many more swaps we will be able to do; we might just need to swap boys and leave the girls out of it, as they seem to be growing apart. Anyhoo, this particular kid has a fever and a rather blechy cough, although he did most of the yuckiest bits (you do know what I mean, right?) while at J’s place. I must say that J’s stepmom is almost definitely my choice of who besides me I would like looking after my baby when he’s sick. She is a very calm, mellow, nurturing person.
Anyway, this means that he and I are at home today. We will go see the pediatrician just to make sure that the gruesome sounding cough is nothing more than that, and then come home to treat the symptoms and ply the kid with fluids, and play endless games of Uno at which he beats me mercilessly and repeatedly even when he feels … well … like he does just now. As for this infernal machine, it seems to be getting testy. After all, it’s over two years old. I will not name the brand; I will only say that when I am in a position to buy a new computer it will not be that brand, no matter how good the deals are they seem to be offering.

The cavern
shifting to send pebbles to skip and scuttle
plumes of rocky dust swinging
in an array of light shafts angling outward
patch of earth swept clear
smooth enough for sleeping

No need for fire within
leave it with the evil people do
here there is no chance for life
the darker side cannot take root
three books and some rolls of parchment
perhaps a pen or a feather

Let the world fly and scream
there is freedom in a cloister
shall I travel to a northern hill
feel the twisting tight ache of opening
the grasp holding fond dreams hostage
to let air dance in sunlight for a while

To let air dance in sunlight is lovely. I can see you dancing, embracing and inhaling every fragrance with your soul. Good morning sweet poet. Sorry to read your puter has an annoying sputter. Em..have you done a virus check? May your day blossom as it unfolds. Smiles & Hugs

Hope the trip to the doctor is good, Cathy! Kids get sick and it is tough on them. I loved this poem! Saw Macy’s from my own living room! All those people remind me of Mardi Gras. The floats are awesome though. Love and hugs,

for some reason, this reminds me of the circle of stones at Donnelaith. I finished Taltos, and now I am so sad….bittersweet might be more accurate.

So sorry about both N and the puter. If it has XP, you can take it back to when it ran smoothly. You can also dust and wax….the basic maintence stuff. Hugs.

“yuckie bits”. You could use that as a trade name for trail mix for kids. Nevermind. My thought processes are whack. 🙂

My son has been on the verge of something for about a week – occasional hacking cough, the sniffles. I hope N is better soon. Say it ain’t a Dell! Hugs,

I have XP, what does Georgette mean by “take it back to when it ran smoothly”???

I hope he gets feeling better soon. Some really bad sickness are going around here that I am loading up on Vit C, and crossing my fingers it will just keep on moving away from me.

Sorry that N is ill and your puter too. Hope the day at home is good for all. Thanks for sharing a whitter and news with us. Buncha Hugs for N and you : )

6 has the cough too – she keeps running out to spit in the toilet. At least it’s breaking up? Enjoy your UNO – i love it, though 6 is a killer.

i’ve been trying to avoid getting sick. it doesn’t seem to be working *cough*hack*wheeze* something to do with not enough sleep, perhaps? hope N feels better soon, and that you both have fun playing Uno 😉 hugs,

Savanah is just getting over a cold, but there were no “yucky bits” involved. 🙂 Hope N is better soon. xo

Gattaca is funny. Sorry the little one is ill! Hoping his body brings the balance back soon. As for computer, have you done cleaning of files, defragment, check disk, clean out spyware, all those housekeeping things? If not, I can send instructions. They may help… maybe?
