Self-restraint

Must practice! This apartment is overrun with candy. It’s dangerous, I tell you. Each child has a mound of the stuff in her/his bedroom. There is a bowl with tons of the stuff left over from my own door answering exploits. My son has sorted his by type! Okay … yesterday I whittered a couple of times. The first is not an indication of where I am at now; the other is a ramble of last night. Have a gorgeous Monday!

Night soul

Down the hallway where the lights have burned out
she drifts
no one knows why
she had it all and she threw it away
so they say
but the darkness matches her vision
and it all looked so good
because all their resources were used
to that purpose
but this dim and barren place is true
no toys and no petticoats and no little white gloves
of pretence and ladylike vacancy
just the richness of what there always was
is and she cannot see past it
to some future with light
because the glare of that would blind her
for good

Thoughts 101

Always
there is something woven through
from before through now and onto after
and what is the meaning
in knowing I am real
my dreams descend to cover me
once upon a time a kaleidoscope
shifted patterns that looked in color
and splendor
like the surviving original windows
in the cathedral across from the post office
where a corner bears witness to things
no one forgets and no one can say

In that cardboard tube my young
incredulous open peering eyes
built visions of magnificence from where
I did not know and I don’t know still
only that journeys must be made
beyond the mess of days
to find the stained glass respondent
some things I wonder but cannot say
for though others glean meanings in symbology
my tentative interpretations are inevitably
nothing but a complication of minor simplicity
no value added
just another awkward hanging phrase

Must. Get. Rid. Of. Candy. (I’m trying to creatively visualize for you). 😉

Good morning. I hate candy. (Well, not really, you know what I mean…)

pretty candy free around here. thankfully. although I must admit I sent greg to the store for an ice cream sandwich yesterday. 🙂

I’m odd. I’m not tempted by son’s huge bag of candy.

Lyrical soulful poetry, like it very much. It speaks to me….Wishing you a fine solitude with self. Smiles & Hugs

CANDY! Yay! 🙂 I like both of these a lot. “Thoughts 101” really speaks to me.

Your being overrun with candy in the house reminds me of a quote I keep up on my bulletin board: “Temptation resisted is the truest measure of character.” Thought-provoking as ever, your writings are. RYN: Thank you kindly.

Think of what greatness of character you would evidence by GIVING AWAY the candy … ; ) Darn it … now you made me recall the few pieces we have left too .. and you know how auntie flo loves chocolate! Liked the whitters. You’re far beyond thoughts 101 & WowWhattaWhitterer! : ) Hugs

I had to get rid of the huge stash of Halloween candy that wasn’t handed out because I had no trick-or-treaters. I’m not safe around candy.

I see me in the first one.

Something about the first one reminded me wistfully of being born in the wrong century.

thanks for the note. it was kind, but off. you have to read that entry again. the love of money is NOT the root of all evil. there are many evils that go on that have NOTHING to do with money at all. The attage is that the love of money is the root for many different evils, but not all of it.

Luckily we don’t have that much candy left. Not many kids this year and we didn’t buy too much. Did you see any of the Village parade?

November 3, 2003

We have tons of candy, teehee. We went the day after for the 50% off sales! Loads and loads of Snicker bars, and Butterfingers, and Whoppers, and Twizzlers, and Candy Corn. Numnumnumnum! *hugs*

I just love the way you ended the second poem! Excellent!

Aaarrrggghhh! All the left-over candy!

i see me in the first one too. no candy in this household. i didn’t have much to begin with. not interested in candy. *hugs*

these whitters are great! I like the last line..”just another awkward hanging phrase” – I have so many of them lol! ::hugs::

Oh the sweets… What an evil event halloween is! *laughs* Your whitters this day have chilled my core. *wraps arms around herself for comfort*

My theory is to scarf down the candy and get rid of it. Buzzbuzzbuzz. With a grin…
