Autumn lyrics and musings

Falling Leaves
Words and music by Dave McGilton
Sung by Frances Black on The Sky Road

Falling leaves remind me
Of how the seasons change
And though you’re not beside me now
You’re with me every day
Who knows where the time goes
And how it slips away
We’re like a seed on the winter snow
We’ll see another day believe me

Summer breeze surrounds me
There’s sunlight everywhere
I can feel your arms around me now
Somehow I feel you’re always there
Who knows where the wind blows
Or why you went away
The only thing that I know now
Is that we’ll meet again someday, believe me

They say time is a healer
They say love never ends
And there are times when I need you
I need all the love that you’re sending to me

Falling leaves remind me
Of how the seasons change
And though you’re not beside me now
You’re with me every day
Who knows where the time goes
And how it slips away
We’re like a seed on the winter snow
We’ll seek another day, believe me

Falling leaves remind me
We all must slip away
Someday

Some thoughts

Take
care
am I able
it is
I know
my greatest hope
of all my hopes
if I may
might
can

This is a place
where we
who are human
beings
write records
in different ways
of different aspects
and there is fiction
biography
memoir and pretense

but

Once
across a wide distance
a union or
reunion
occurred
and now
as words I have used
for what is to me
a sacred thing
I see turned
upside down
in another place
I wonder
if there is any safety
do I need armor
and of what matters most
to me
can I
take
care

“Can I take care…” If I had knowledge of which paths I was about to tread insured my safety, I bet they’d be lonely ones..but I would prefer to take the chance on a path whose beginning made my heart beat just a little faster in anticipation. I beleive all paths which involve my higher self have a component of joy in them…

I really want to post the photo of the entwined women sculpture that you posted, on my latest entry…it was a vision very much like that, that I “saw” when writing the poem “Where Are You?”

Does feel like autumn here now too. A cool, after the rain, quiet Sunday. Hope yours is a good one. Enjoyed the lyrics and the interesting whitter. I hope you don’t find it needed that you wear armor and I bet you can take care of what you wish to quite well. Hugs and Smiles

I am so loving this new autumn twist to the air… this is my most favorite time of year. ryn: double ewwwwwwwwwwww. he makes me ill.

“most favorite” is intentionally grammatically incorrect… but crunching into a pile of leaves still delights me… makes me feel like a kid once more… so “most favoritest” just seems to capture that. 🙂

lovely.

I love Fall, though it brings with it a melancholy feeling. Lovely as always, ME. 🙂 ***hugs***

i love the autumn leaves falling down! so pretty! in your poem…it makes me think how vulnerable we are when we share our feelings…our written words. and yes, we need to take care. and should we put on our armor to protect ourselves? others can hurt us with cruel words you know. yes, they can. it has happened to me. *hugs*

Actually I think you’d look good standing out there on the moor with your dress highlighting the glow of your armor. 🙂

Both these poems are so good. Just part of the life that leads to when the last leaf falls… I am loving autumn..Hugs..

ryn: ahhh but it’s always good to have fun once in awhile, even if it does have it’s reprocussions. *laughs*

My grandson was here when I read this earlier. Re-reading it just now, I hear a question in those lovely words.. I hope all is well…I agree Bill Cosby is a great man; I’ve known him for years (grin). Checking prices for tickets.. Hugs

Yes do take care but remember that words can never hurt you- the poem/song above reminds me of a few loved ones who have gone on- Do you fear an OD’er? I hope not.

beautiful words, beautiful season, beautiful weather (except i’m not supposed to jump in puddles because i end up freezing from being all wet) did you know that in Saskatchewan, there aren’t any red maple leaves? (i’m so glad i moved to Ontario!) hugs,
