It’s lunchtime, sort of

An aside

You see
I am learning all along
and now I watch
because I know and I care

The quality of love
is not improved by sweeping declarations
oh I respect a way of being
but I look for what happens now

Make your proclamations
but beware
the very stirring of the air in them
may blow her door shut

~~~~~~~~~~
A quiet thing
The light for which I reach
is not found in the flame of a torch
no
you will not find it bursting through the sky
it is not large and full and temporary
like some fireworks display
It is gentle and subtle
soft for resting in
when the day’s work is over
reflected in polished wood
the colors of glass in the door
beside a room I dare to call ours
It lives in that very calm claim
through all these days
that we are living the thread of us
the discovery of belonging
making sure the more of it so needed
is given without disturbance
The world and its years
etch patterns into lives
expectations take root and grow
I will seek us between the crowds
come when there is time enough and some room
when what is ours is available
In the gleaming polished quiet
that reflects who and what you are
lies my best possibility
it is the hope in which I act
I can’t tell you what enough is
only what is
Has anybody thanked you recently for being just exactly who you are ME? If, not I’d like to take the opportunity to do this right here, right now. There is a wonderful open hearted constancy to your entries that one sees reading a whole bunch at once like I am doing. Your light is bright.
