Lyrics and two whitters

A song that somehow is staying on my mind lately, and two whitters.

A Little Good News
Sung by Anne Murray
Written by Charles Black, Rory Bourke, and Thomas Rocco

I rolled out this morning
The kids had the mornin’ news show on
Bryant Gumbel was talkin’ ’bout the fighting in Lebanon
Some senator was squawkin’ ’bout the bad economy
It’s gonna get worse you see, we need a change in policy

There’s a local paper rolled up in a rubber band
One more sad story’s one more than I can stand
Just once how I’d like to see the headline say
“Not much to print today, can’t find nothin’ bad to say”

because

Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD’ed, nobody burned a single building down
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today

I’ll come home this evenin’
I bet that the news will be the same
Somebody takes a hostage, somebody steals a plane
How I wanna hear the anchor man talk about a county fair
And how we cleaned up the air, how everybody learned to care

Whoa, tell me

Nobody was assassinated in the whole Third World today
And in the streets of Ireland, all the children had to do was play
And everybody loves everybody in the good old USA
We sure could use a little good news today

(Fade~)
Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD’ed, nobody burned a single buildin’ down
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today

Night

Soaring doesn’t suffice
and the only way ecstasy works
is in remembering its meaning
outside of body
beyond stasis

There you are
knew I’d find you
once the world got quiet
knew in the night
I’d feel your presence

Simple
beyond explanation
sleeping into it now
slipping away
to where we are

Morning

The sun isn’t shining today
no
to everyone else here
she is hidden behind the clouds

But

I know where she is hiding
because I feel her
and if they knew how to see my smile
her hiding place would be revealed

I think we used to read one another’s diaries. I used to be “Just Walk Away” and had some other names, but I saw a note from you in someone else’s diary and had to drop in and say hi to an old friend! I don’t know how we lost touch…probably when I deleted my diary and started over. Anyway, how are you doing? 🙂 *hugs*

My mind’s fried and I can’t read this properly, which makes my mood even more moody 😛 but I love you my friend and I’ll visit here again to read it if I remember… tired and silly and moody, Colette
