Thing 1 and Thing 2

Great news!

I’m pregnant again! Pippa’s going to be a big sister, hurray!

I suspected about a week ago. I had some spotting and it was way too early for it to be the spotting I normally get before my period. Unfortunately I couldn’t test until this morning, but we got a positive. We’re really excited and I’m happy because it didn’t take months on end to happen like it did the first time around.

The timing is going to be fun too, since we’ll be hitting the "safe zone" of the second trimester right before Thanksgiving. We’re having a big family dinner this year, so it’ll be a great time to announce it. And I’m already planning Christmas cards with a picture of Pippa holding a sonogram while wearing a t-shirt that says "I’m the BIG sister!"

In other excellent news, we have a house ready and waiting for us when we get to Ft. Lewis. It’s not the neighborhood we originally applied for, and I dislike the kitchen, but it’s about two blocks from American Lake and there’s a playground about 4 houses away. Living on post will save us money on gas and avoid what is by all accounts a really wretched commute. It’s also a huge weight off our minds that we won’t be living out of a motel for a month. We had a little studio/efficiency booked in Puyallup and Alan cancelled it this morning. We’ll leave here on September 27, get to Ft. Lewis on the 30th and only have to stay in a hotel that night. We’ll be able to move in the next day after the inspection and housing class. We’re bringing some stuff in a UHaul trailer, mostly for Pippa’s room. The rest will arrive on October 7th, so we won’t even be without our household goods for very long.

All in all, it’s been an uplifting few days.
