Good News

Excellent news! I’m not pregnant!

It’s definitely a relief, let me tell you. I do want another child eventually, but the timing would seriously suck. I don’t want two under two and I definitely don’t want to move to Washington at 8 months pregnant, thanks. I’m still very much enjoying Pippa as an only child. She’s fun and I want some time that’s just hers.

The ball on Saturday was fun. It seemed less formal than the last one – maybe because they didn’t do a receiving line. I guess they figured it would be too time consuming since they had almost double the guest list as the last one. I even got Alan to dance, even though he’s an absolutely terrible dancer. If I ever have a son, I’m going to force him to go to his school dances, just so he learns how to dance. Pippa even did well with Courtney, our sitter. She did wake up the second we walked in the door though. When I went to check on her, she had climbed out of her crib and was powering across our bed.

On Sunday we went to Cassie and Tim’s house for the Super Bowl. We were planning to stay for the whole game, but Pippa couldn’t settle down because she was so excited about the dogs. So we took her home around the time the power went out. I know a lot of people were all crazy about it, but my cousin Nora lives in New Orleans and apparently it’s a common enough issue with the power company there. They have random power outages all the time.

No big plans, but I have rehearsal later and Charlee is letting me borrow the keyboard that we traded last year for their grill. There are some serious harmonies in this show that you just can’t hear on the soundtrack – plus the songs that aren’t included on the soundtrack. This is way I can practice. I did try to use an online piano, but it’s too difficult to have to look at the keys or try to memorize which keys are which notes when I KNOW the notes on a piano and can read music.

I’ve been really bad about Weight Watchers lately and I need to get back on track. I’m going to try to take a walk most days, even though I HATE walking around here because it’s ugly and there’s fairly heavy traffic. Today I need to walk down to the grocery store for onions and gauze because I sliced my thumb open on a can lid while making dinner last night. I’m only glad that a.) the lid was VERY sharp so it didn’t hurt and b.) I’d already washed my hands twice trying to get the oil from the serrano peppers off my hands and I guess it worked. It bled like fucking crazy though! Blood everywhere. Very gory.

Anyway, Pippa calls.

Yeesh about the blood! I don’t think all of your entries are updating in my feed because when I saw your first two sentences I thought I must have missed something 🙂 I’m all caught up now! Good luck with the musical – that sounds like a lot of fun!

Glad to hear you’re not pregnant, again! (for the reasons you listed!!) As boring as it may be, it’s comforting to have everyone giving short, but sweet, updates! <3 Ugh about slicing your thumb, tho! I smashed my fingers about 2 months ago, and they’re STILL healing/growing out. It’s gross. A nail almost fell off >.< ~*Stephanie*~
