The Next 1001 Days
Well, I’ve finally finished my list of goals to work on over the next 1001 Days. I spent quite a lot of time browsing random lists, which would somehow inspire totally unrelated goals, but it worked.
So this is what I’m working on from October 1st, 2011 to June 28th, 2014.

The Challenge:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple challenges such as New Year’s resolutions or a ‘Bucket List’. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips, study semesters, or outdoor activities.
- Visit Europe.
- Read 25 of the books on the list of ‘1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die.’ (0/25)

- Write a will.
- Complete the full Rosetta Stone German course.

- See the Northern Lights.
- Answer the “50 Questions that will free your mind.” (0/50)
- See a live horse race.
- Donate to a big cat refuge.
- Learn about Buddhism.
- Meditate daily for 30 days. (0/30)
- Read the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
- Visit a castle.
- Eat sushi.
- Complete three NaNoWriMos. (0/3)
- Make caramel apples.
- Go to a Rocky Horror Picture Show showing at midnight.

- Do a Mud Run or Warrior Dash.
- Make a homemade salt/sugar scrub.
- Go apple, pumpkin, or berry picking.
- Take belly dancing or hula lessons.

- Stop swearing for a week.
- Go to a church service in a denomination I’ve never been to before.
- Swim in the Pacific Ocean.
- Throw a party.
- Grow a Bodhi tree.
- Make a new friend.
- Go to the Opera.
- Take a creative writing class.
- Write a screenplay.
- Go canoeing or kayaking.
- Buy a designer handbag.

- Memorize the Gettysburg Address.
- Make an apron.
- Go to a planetarium.
- Watch a meteor shower.
- Make a list of 100 things that make me happy.

gah! THINGS! If Ireland makes it on to your Euro trip i promise i’ll take you out for a night of drinks. providing the first one is a pint of Guinness, of course 🙂 “love me do” is easy on the harmonica. and now i’m looking up those 50 questions that will free my mind.
