I’m Kind of a Big Deal
I guess it’s time to bust out the pink and blue balloons… I’m pregnant!
After almost a year of trying, it’s finally happened!
Okay, I have to admit that I’ve been keeping this under wraps for the last few days. I actually found out on Thursday and I wanted to wait to spill the beans here until I’d told Alan, which I did this morning. I made some baby bibs with stuff I got at JoAnn and put them in a box for him to open this morning, along with the positive home test. It took him a minute. LOL.
So now starts 9 months of mild insanity… as if I weren’t crazy enough already. I first suspected last Tuesday because my breasts were so sore I couldn’t even run on the treadmill. That’s not typical PMS for me, but I did my best to put it out of my head. Then the day I should have gotten my period came and went, so I took a test. It’s been so hard keeping it from Alan. I’m glad it’s out now, at least to him… and you guys, of course.
We’re going to keep it as quiet as we can for now because of the obvious risks early on in pregnancy. Once we hit the second trimester, we’ll definitely tell everyone. For now, not even our families will know. I am a little worried about that, because Richard and Kathy will be visiting on the 13th. Fortunately they won’t be staying with us, so even if I do have to deal with morning sickness, I should be able to hide it better. I’ve also never been a big drinker, so it’s not odd if I don’t drink. Lisa and Kurt will be staying with us at the end of the month though. I’m mostly just praying I can keep it together. I don’t have any nausea yet, but it’s still early.
What I’d like to do to tell everyone is send our parents picture frames that say Grandma & Grandpa with a print of the ultrasound or sonogram inside. Could be cute. I’m also toying with the idea of just calling them and saying "So would you rather be Nana and Poppy or Grandma and Grandpa?" and just seeing what happens.
I think the timing is a good omen. I’m due March 8th of next year… incidentally right when I was originally due (I was 2 weeks early). That has to be a good sign, right?
Obviously, if you know me on Facebook, let’s try to keep this just an OD thing.

Congratulations! I saw you on the front page. What worked for me to ward off the morning sickness is to constantly eat, in other words, do not get hungry. Peanut butter and Jelly were a staple for me. And a lot of fruit.

Congrats! I know you guys have been trying for so long, I’m so happy for you! *hugs* I completely understand about keeping it quiet for the first 10-12 weeks. But I’m sure it’s going to be crazy difficult! I like the idea of the picture frame and sonogram! So cute! ~*Stephanie*~
