Travelogue #3 (5/11 – Fort St. Catherine) Pictures

9:00 PM ADT, Heritage Wharf, Bermuda

We came in to the Royal Navy Dockyard around 8:00 AM and were cleared by local customs agents shortly thereafter. The three of us hung back a bit to avoid the mad rush for the gangway.

We decided to head straight to St. George’s Parish after getting a 3-day transportation pass. It was a simple matter of taking the bus into Hamilton and switching over to the St. George’s bus. We walked from the terminal there up to Fort St. Catherine.

It was beautiful! It sits alone on a blustery promontory over the crystal blue sea. Best of all, for only $7 you can scramble over pretty much the entire thing. Nothing is roped off and very little is even marked with "Danger" signs.

The roads are a bit scary — maybe "intimidating" is a better word. Everyone flies by so fast. If Alan were here we could rent a scooter, but I’m fine on the buses and ferries, not having to remember to drive on the left instead of the right.

We had lunch at a little restaurant near Fort St. Catherine and wandered around St. George’s a while. I’ve been looking for a present for Alan, but haven’t seen anything that really grabs me. I’d like to send him a rum cake, but that might not make it through customs once we get back to New York.

I’m trying not to be annoyed with my my mother… and failing rather spectacularly at it, I might add. She’s just too fucking irritating!
