A Sunday Afternoon Lyrics Quiz

You know the drill. I post lyrics from a random selection of my iTunes music library and you see how many of them you know. Please give the song title and the artist (at least the one who is most famous for that particular song). Without cheating, please, because where’s the fun in that?

1. So forget all of your chances
It’s up to you to follow through
Forget the way she was
Cause it’s the things she does that make me
Sing about her.

2. Where have all the riots gone
As the city’s motto gets pulverized?
What’s in love is now in debt
On your birth certificate
So strike the fucking match to light this fuse!

3. What does it mean when
Everything fucks up?
What does it mean when
Everything sucks?
What does it mean when you don’t
Want to leave the house
You’d rather stay in bed drunk?

4. I do declare,
There were times when I was so
lonesome
I took some comfort there.

5. And it stung my tongue to repeat the words
That I used to use only yesterday
Meanings just dropped to the ground
I tried to remember what I thought
And what I used to say

6. And they knew all the lyrics by heart, now,
And they play in the perfect key,
And their tombstones are silhouetted,
And the band I can barely see

7. We ought to send Officer Joe Strange
To some Australian mountain range

8. Believing, the things I did were wrong
I’m leaving
It fades away, forget about it
She’s binding, can’t do a thing alone
Rewinding
Times before, can’t live without it

9. It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag

10. When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

11. When I’m crashing through the madness,
Not sure who I’m supposed to be,
When I’m caught up in the darkness,
It’s your hand that’s leading me,
You bring me back to solid ground

12. And I still find it so hard
To say what I need to say
But I’m quite sure that you’ll tell me
Just how I should feel today

13. Alone on a midnight passage
I can count the falling stars
While the Southern Cross and the satellites
They remind me of where we are

14. I know how wear the costume
I know how to wear the mask
I even like the feel of having to ask

15. I had hope
I believed
But I’m beginning to think that I’ve been deceived
