A Big Metaphorical Truck

I am a mess. Starting late Friday I have been a victim of a nasty stomach bug that has been meandering its evil little way around the center. Not a nice way to spend what could have been a really nice weekend given how gorgeously spring-like the weather was. I did manage to get my errands and the basic chores done, which is a good thing because otherwise I wouldn’t have any clothes this week. I even made it through the grocery store with stomach in tact — a near thing because there were people offering samples every three feet. (No, I would not like to try any salsa. Ugh.) And now, aside from the fact that I didn’t have the energy to straighten my hair last night and it’s a big, curly mess, the capillaries around my eyes burst and it looks like I’ve been beaten up. It’s much better this morning, but yesterday I got all kinds of funny looks. I imagine I’ll get a few questions on that.

There have been a few good things the last week though. I lost another 2 lbs, bought a pair of jeans two sizes smaller than the ones I’m wearing, and now fit into a coat I haven’t worn in years. This week is also Bright Horizons’ Teacher Appreciation Week and the Parent Advisory Committee is taking us to dinner at the Southport Brewing Company on Friday night, not to mention providing breakfast, massages, coffee, etc. throughout the week.

I also got to the library and downloaded some stuff onto my new computer so I can use it the way I want. I’m still working on pulling files off of this computer for right now.

And I spent last night watching "Rent." NOT the movie version, which irritated me. Instead, I bought the film of the final performance, which was really incredible. Like being there, but better in some ways because of how close the cameras can actually get to the actors. Made me cry, of course.

Anyway, it’s time once again to get ready for work. It should be pretty quiet. Connor is in Arkansas for the week and Elizabeth leaves at 11:30 on Mondays. Hopefully that means a little less chaos. I’d certainly appreciate it.
