Flaunt It

Another week of pain and petty torments has passed me by and the weekend has unfolded with some truly glorious weather. The birds are singing and the forsythia is forsything, as my mother would say. Oh. And did I mention that I have tomorrow off? ^_^

Knowing that I have an extra day to relax and get all my little chores done has had a lot to with the improvement in my mood. Granted, I will have to spend some of it at Dr. Begum’s office, but all told it should be less than an hour. Then I’ll have the rest of the day to read and do the laundry. A mellow sort of day.

Work is still work. Five children ranging from 5 months to 3 years crammed into one room does not a pleasant situation make. Janelly has been picking on Sean and has now turned her attentions to the baby. She doesn’t bite or hit Camille or Janeyah, I think because developmentally, they’re on the same level. Meaning that if she hits them, they’ll be likely to hit back. Sean is still young enough that if someone takes his toy he may cry for a minute, but he’ll move on quickly. If Janelly bites him, he cries, but doesn’t fight back. I think she knows that. Alisa is going to try separating them this week. I suggested that if she has to do it then it needs to be the two youngest (and incidentally, the two boys) that are kept together in the other room. Still, I think that Sean will miss out. He’s been participating in toddler activities and now we’re going to put him back in room geared towards infants? Great plan. Still, I’m not going to complain. It means that I’ll only have three to deal with. So yay. And I won’t really be there this week anyway. I’m off tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday will both be normal days, then on Thursday I’m leaving at noon and on Friday I’m off again.

Why the weirdness you ask? Lisette’s wedding, of course! I’m looking forward to it. Lisa is finishing up my dress and it looks really good. The top actually stays up and the bottom is nice. She did an awesome job with it, though why she’s decided to be nice to me, I suppose I’ll never know. I’ve also never been to a Catholic wedding, so chalk one up to new experiences. I’ve been breaking in my shoes and find that they’re entirely comfortable on carpeted surfaces and fortunately, the church is carpeted. And come the reception I can just kick them off. And I’d like to dance. I’m not really into clubs, but I do miss all the dances and parties from when we were in school.

At the moment my hair has been straightened, then dampened on the ends and put into rollers. I’m determined to make my hair do what I want, but it may not work all that well right now. I used Natural Instincts to even out the color last night, so it’s still really squeaky clean and soft. Nice, but not very good for the styling. What I’ll probably do is wash my hair on Friday morning or afternoon and blow-dry just the roots (to smoot them out) before putting the bottom in rollers and letting them set over night. The result should be something charmingly old-fashioned. LOL… Of course, if it doesn’t work, I have combs, bobby pins, and more hot tools than you can shake a stick at. I’ll be fine. ~_^

So, obviously, it’s an exciting week. I must be going for now, though. Alan is here and I’m trying something new for dinner tonight — Fresh Salmon-Cilantro Burgers. Should be tasty!
