Sigh of Resignation
Well, here I am at the library. ::sigh:: We’ve been having problems with our computer at home, spyware and such that we just can’t seem to get rid of. And now every time we try to log on to the computer, it logs us immediately back off. Apparently this is a problem with Windows XP, although it’s the first I’ve heard of it in the last four years that we’ve had the thing. Anyway, Alan’s called his computer-savvy friend, Mark (who’s rescued our computer before), but he still hasn’t called back. So now I’m battling the timer on my session here. Yippy skippy.
At any rate, I just wanted to let you all know that I may be MIA for awhile.
On the plus side, I did order my dress for Jen’s wedding. And my car is all ready for me to pick it up. Yay! No more irritating as all get out Krappy Kia. Not only does it pull pretty significantly to the right (not unusual in a rental), but whatever it is about the design of the car makes it VERY hard to handle at high speeds and on windy days. Ugh. It sucks. I’m soooooo glad I’ll be getting Ptolemy back this afternoon.
I’m also all set to go to work whenever they need me. I got my physical and my TB test was negative (so shocking) and I dropped the form off with Alisa about an hour ago. WooHoo! I’m planning on making bread tomorrow, but hopefully I can start Wednesday. Again, I could really use the money.
Oh… and I got my hair cut. It was down below my shoulders, so I took about 5 inches off. It just annoys me when it gets that long because it starts getting a ridge where it dips in at my neck. Now it’s just brushing the middle of my neck with lots of swingy layers and side bangs. The girl at the salon blow-dried it rather strangley so that I looked like some kind 90’s politician’s wife. Very bad. I took my flat iron to it this morning and tamed it. I flipped it out at the bottom and flattened the bangs and pieced it out with pomade so now it’s wicked cute and very much Natalie-on-Monk-ish. Love it. Although I’ll probably have to A.) Wash it more frequently and B.) Style it a bit every day.
This computer-less-ness is really a pain. Now I’ve got less than 45 minutes to check everything I’ve been neglecting. ::sigh:: Then again, it gets me out of the house, so that can’t really be a bad thing. I just hope that we can get it back without losing all our documents. For one thing, I would lose my book list now that I’m more than halfway through it and have over 50 books. I’d also lose my updates on my 101 Things List. Fortunately, that’s an easy fix, since I have the original both here and as a hard copy. And I keep all my creative writing on a thumb drive with arguably more storage space than the computer itself. Alan, unfortunately, would lose all his photos. He doesn’t upload them to Photobucket because it destroys the resolution. Poor guy. And some of them are seriously excellent. I just hope Mark can come through for us.
Anyway, less than 40 minutes now and still lots to check up on. Hopefully I can get back soon. Love to all my faves and apologies for any typos. I’m not used to a regular keyboard anymore.

I hope you can get the computer fixed without losing everything. I try to save on my creative writing on a zip drive, as well as computer, but there are times where I’ll make a few changes to something and forget to back it up. I’ve lost a few things, so I’m trying to be more diligent about it. I’m glad you got your car back. I once had a Kia as a rental and didn’t like it. It didn’t seem sturdy enough to be driven on the freeway.

If Mark knows what he’s doing, there’s no reason to lose anything, especially pictures. Even if the hard drive needs to be formatted and the whole thing redone, there are 1,001 ways to get stuff off of a spyware-laden computer, so accept no less as an answer if the stuff on there is important. ~Kevin
