Birthmonth

Hello m’dears!

We’ve had a wonderful Birthmonth these past few weeks, (and I am now closer to 60 than 50. Whoah! HOW did that happen so quickly?!)

Ian and Trevor were born 23 years ago today. One minute they were little guys…..and the next minute they were big guys.

It all flies by waaaay to quickly…*sigh*

As many of you know, I claim all month to celebrate my birthday. (It just seemed a fitting and self-indulgent thing to do once I reached 50. I’m shameless like that.)  Last weekend was especially lovely…breakfasts/lunches with friends, movie matinees, (“It’s Complicated”—a romantic comedy that is probably better suited for the older baby boomer set. I don’t think that I’ve ever laughed so hard at certain points in a movie than I did in this one.) Anyway—lots of sweet cozy-in-front-of-the-fire and date stuff with Don, which is always fun.

On Sunday, in preparation for an impromptu Birthday/Valentines gathering with friends at our house, Don cooked all day. He made a delish chicken/chili casserole, and two heavenly/sinful chocolate mousse pies which I decorated with swirly hand-made dark chocolate hearts!

Several people who know I love “chick food”– as Don calls appetizers– brought artichoke dip and olive tapenade and other finger-food goodies.

I also made Don’s favorite heart-shaped frosted shortbread cookies, as I have done every Valentine’s Day since we met.

We filled our little house with some of my very favorite people and their wonderful others—(and if you and you and all of YOU lived in town, you would have been invited too!) I have been blessed with deep and lasting friendships—and everywhere I looked around our rooms, there was someone I utterly LOVED. The realization was one of those time-stopping breathless Moments. Some of my very favorite people had not met some of my other very favorite people—so it was a delight to see them all laughing and chatting with each other. Such gifted, loving and creative souls…I am humbled and thrilled that they grace my small world.

I talked to my parents on my actual birthday—and they sang Happy Birthday in harmony over the phone. I cried at the sweetness of it. And Don bought me coral/pink roses..which he really hates to do because "they just die", but he knows that I love them.

Meanwhile I am deep in the thick of Fun Projects on my work tables and the new high school play called “Almost, Maine”. And then there’s the big (costume heavy) commedia dell’ arte spring play “Servant of Two Masters” coming up in April…..and two workshops I am teaching at a city wide high school theatre festival….. and sheesh!

I am loving my life right now.

Hugs to you all…I will visit and note as I can!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADAGIO!!! And also to the twins…. (awww… they’ve ly changed 😉 Just how tall are those handsome young men who appear to be dusting the ceilings with their hair, anyway? Speaking of tall, you know, now that Stilt is “in the family” so to speak, we also celebrate a February birthday… on the 14th!!! Plus, my oldest friend, and my BEST friend are also born this month, so let theconfetti stream, the candles be blown, the bells chime, and the chocolate (in whatever celebratory form) be eaten! *Raising a cocoa toast to you!*

Happy wonderful month long birthday!! My sister’s b’day is the 28th, I’m going to tell her how much she’s already missed by not celebrating all month long. The boys are so handsome. And what a sweetheart your Don is! ryn: on Looking up’s diary, thank you so much for the kind and loving words for my mom. She remains in much the same condition, but we are so thankful she’s still with us.

Happy Birthmonth big Sis, sorry I didn’t call, my bad. I am getting up there too as I look forward to eating on the senior menu at Perkins and getting the senior discount in a few months. Had dinner with Paula, Helen, Bev and Bob acouple of weeks ago and of course Helen sang the Enderlin song about 5 times and of course I asked her about her birthday 6 times Julia…Love you and miss you BRO

Happy Birthmonth to you, Adagio-it all sounds wonderful! And a wonderful picture of your boys….no, young men! I,too, was serenaded by phone on my birthday(the 16th)-first by my sister and her husband-in harmony,too-then again by my sweet daughter calling all the way from New Zealand where she is on a three month long backpacking trip. Now THAT phone call was the icing on the cake!! : )
