GREAT NEWS!

So, when people ask me what I’ve been up to lately–I usually begin by saying "Well, I have this friend who wrote a wonderful book called "Eyes Like Stars", and I’ve been working on the website illustrations…."

The Callboard

This morning I just have to share the news that Lisa Mantchev’s (Dallandra’s) book–after being in the stores for a mere 7 DAYS, has been nearly SOLD OUT at the big bookstores (but go look for it just in case–and clamor for it if it isn’t there!) and is going for a SECOND PRINTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is such wonderfully BIG NEWS for Lisa–and I just had to help shout it out to everyone and congratulate her for this Truly Dizzying and Wildly Wonderful Turn of Events!!

The fairies and I gaped at each other, and then they promptly disappeared from the chaos they were making in my studio. (see last entry) I think they felt their chances of finding celebratory CAKE back at Lisa’s house was highly likely.

Heh. I will paint in peace today.

😀 Hooray!!!!

July 15, 2009

I know it’s a hit here, I’ve SEEN people reading it in the park. I don’t even know Lisa, it’s more a six degrees kind of thing, you know, friend of a friend of a friend, but it still makes me smile really big. Perahps because I’ve always thought writing a book was something I could never do, despite the fact that I’ve spent my entire life writing. It gives me a kind of hope, though I still doubt it, I tend to go off in too many directions at once. I’d be like A.S. Byatt and that wouldn’t be good since I can hardly get through one of her books, as beautifully written as they are. My, long note!

Yea!! Congratulations to you both 🙂 May it continue to sell hugely.

Wonderful!

so cool! congrats!!!

ryn: truth be told, I think I have found a balance. mum needs me to do this for her, and I probably need it myself, too. I am just slower to recognize/admit these things. Bit of a coward, sometimes. in any case, thank you for your very kind words.

Hey, Celebatory Cake is almost as good as Misappropriated Cake. *grin* And don’t tell anyone that I accidentally read that as “celibatory cake” at first. Whew.

wow, kudos to your friend Lisa and her success. 🙂 no details about what it’s about? 😉

And thank you for letting me know about Eyes Like Stars. I requested it from her publisher yesterday. Will let you know when the review comes available.

I’m going to send your note to K, he’ll love it, actually. I’ve told him all about you. I really appreciate your mama lion stance, thank you for loving me that much. I told K about how, at work, a coworker was questioning me carefully about him, wanting to make sure he was good for me, and he said she was a very good friend for doing that. he was actually pretty stunned to realize his pattern of getting cranky at me when he is stressed – and he was really worried that he’d totally blown it with me. (I also made it clear that wasnt ok to do to me). the good thing is that his anger is mild and manageable and is actually about ridiculous things so that I can recognize it (now that I’ve seen it twice in 8 months). And we’ve also talked about finding ways for him to relieve stress and to try things that make him happy so he prevents running on empty when something stressful comes up. he’s really motivated to try that as prevention. thanks again for taking the time to write a thoughtful note to help. 🙂

Wow, that is fantastic news!! And I just love the beautiful illustrations on that website. Oh I wish I could draw like that. Especially the playful way you draw those cutie faces. That’s the difference between technically good, and really talently good, you know. Lololol. Keep up the good work! You’r such an inspiration.
