Hump Day
My first instinct is to go read and catch up with all my favorites. I am writing today instead so that I don’t crawl into bed tonight thinking…I should go write an entry.
Wednesday Tyler had a dentist appointment ~ just for a cleaning. On the way to the dentist a man in a van decided that he wanted to be in the lane that I was in ~ exactly where I was! Good thing we were both going slow…approaching a red light. Bam…ahh shit. He pulled over, jumped out of his van, and ran to my car. The first thing out of his mouth was “are you okay?” Fine and dandy. I got out and looked at my car. Nothing ~ cleaned some dirt off that is all. Walked over to look at his van. Nothing! He did notice that my blinker cover was cracked. I thought that it was not a big deal. Apparently it is a big deal because I have now lost it. Dick said “once they crack, they are gone.” It’s gone! Grrr…but what do ya do. I can only blame myself because I was in too much of a hurry to exchange insurance information. Oh well!
So I get Tyler to the dentist for his cleaning and they tell me that they want to do a check-up too. I know his teeth are very weak and need to be watched very close. Sure enough he has two cavities. I hope that those teeth don’t completely rot in the month that he has to wait to get them filled. His decay spreads like wild fire. “Brush good!!”
Now I have to get him to school in Emerado. Timing is perfect ~ I can drop him off at school and still get to work on time. I get into Emerado, driving down the street and all of the sudden I feel my tire go off the edge of the road. “Hold on Tyler!” Into a drainage ditch we go! I did get the car stopped before we went all the way down but not soon enough to just back out. The first thought was “who am I going to call to get me out of here?” We were close enough to the school that Tyler could walk but he didn’t have to. A guy I know from the Highlander was standing outside talking to the kids’ former bus driver. The both watched it happen. Leroy came right over and said
“I will drop him off and school and take you to the City Hall to talk to “??” he can get a tractor and pull you right out. So that is what he did. Then we went cruising around Emerado ~ only because he went to his house to get a cigarette then to the gas station to buy a pack of smokes. “??” was there with the tractor when we got back. Leroy told me that “??” is a multi-millionaire. He told me how he made his money but I guess it is not that important to me because I do not recall what he said.
When he got done pulling me out I asked him what I owed him. He said “what ever you want.” I had $10 cash in my wallet and gave it to him. All the while Leroy stood by shaking his head in disbelief. I told Leroy “you are SOL for cash but I can write you a check.” He said “I don’t want anything! That is what good people do is help each other.”
I got to work and I was only about 10 minutes late. Of course I called my boss right away when I got stuck. She accused me of being on my cell phone she was joking with me. Nope I was not on my cell phone just driving on the edge of the road with compacted snow so I did not even know I was that close to the edge. You know what they say…if you are not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space.
So that was my hump day!! The rest of it was better.
i’m glad you guys are alright! hopefully all this damn winter driving will be done soon! have a good weekend!

I’m glad you and Tyler did not get hurt. I’ve been in the ditch one to many times back in the frozen tundra. And most of those times it was DPH driving! Back then we were dumb enough to only wear tennis shoes. Hugs,
