The Open House

Well I did not get to complain about my yard. It has been raining and raining. The mower went down and Dick could not get it going! We had to buy a new one. Dick had it Thursday night but rather than bringing it home he went out drinking. Even though he went drinking again Friday night he did get the new mower home. He and Tyler did manage to get the whole yard mowed.

The Open House was a lot of work and I over estimated ~ can you say over the top? I spent double of what I could have! I ordered a whole sheet cake plus a quarter of a sheet cake. The whole sheet was four different pictures of Derek as a baby. The quarter sheet had one of his senior pictures and was decorated with his school colors. I could have ordered a quarter sheet cake rather than the full sheet and still would have had plenty of cake. I order two meat and cheese trays ~ one would have been more than enough. I made potato salad, macaroni salad, cookie salad. I could have had half of each of the salads and had enough. I made a cheese ball that no one touched ~ Derek asked me to make it. I bought a watermelon, a honey dew melon, 2 cantaloupes, a big container of grapes, and a big container of strawberries. I sent a gallon bag of fruit to Todd’s and I still have two gallon bags in the fridge. I bought three pounds of baby carrots, four cucumbers, three celery hearts, and two heads of each cauliflower and broccoli. I sent a big bag of cauliflower and broccoli, a bag of carrots, a bag of cucumbers, and some celery to Todd and still have a lot left. I made a double batch of fruit dip. I guess that dips are not big around here because not much of that was gone either. We had five different types of chips out. I started with three dozen cookies and ended with three dozen minus a half a dozen. Little smokies ~ I bought 8 packages and a gallon of barbeque sauce. I put 5 packages of the smokies in the crock pot when I cleaned up I put almost a full crock pot of smokies in the fridge. (Guess what we are having for supper?)

My fridge is jam packed full! I did get rid of most of the salad because I gave my sister’s step-son a dish of each, I sent a dish of each to Todd, and a dish of each to his mother. So that left a small dish of each in my fridge. The cake ~ I sent the quarter sheet with Todd. If they don’t eat it he can take it to work. The full sheet ~ I took that to the HL. My kids at work like cake. Tessa called me around 12:30 ~ I was already sleeping if anyone can believe that ~ she got rid of all of the cake. The Big’s came in ~ oh what did she say about that? I don’t quite remember! Oh well the cake got eaten anyway ~ no waste makes me happy.

I forgot to mention the big box of crackers, the salsa, and chili cheese dip, French onion dip, and the ranch dip. Why does no one eat dip? Maybe we are a dipping family and we are the weird ones. Buns ~ I felt guilty about telling Todd to get about 10 dozen buns but now I just giggle about it. What the hell was I thinking?
