Eighth Grade Graduation
I came here to write but ended up reading. Now I am getting short on time ~ it is back to the grind for me. I had Tuesday and Wednesday off ~ Tuesday for the school program and Wednesday for Nadines 8th Grade Graduation. Would you believe that I did not have my camera? I did not have my camera!
I was going to town all day but I had a nagging feeling that kept telling me to wait for the girls to get home. I was certain that one or the other possibly both would just have to have something to survive the night. I was right! The girls came home from school on the late bus mind you. Nadine put on the dress that she planned on wearing ~ the same dress that she wore for the Christmas concert. The dress is black and simply elegant ~ she loves that dress and wore it one time! It seems that her breasts have outgrown the dress! Poor girl!
We were on our way to town to find a new outfit/dress anything that she could find. Since I had decided that I would pick up her gift and give it to her after school today. Oh change that plan too! I dropped the girls off at Wal*Mart and I headed to the jewelry store. I decided on a pair of Garnet earrings for her.
As I got back into the car to go back to Wal*Mart my cell phone rings. The girls were done. I can not believe that Nadine had chosen her outfit so fast ~ she can not make a decision to save her soul. I guess a little fear will speed things up. The girls were scared ~ this was their first shopping spree without me in the same store. There is a creepy man in an army suit. Everywhere we go he is there. I asked if they thought that he was following them. YES! I asked if they were at the customer service desk and they were. I told them to stay right there ~ I am on my way.
Of course I had to hit every damn red light! I hit everyone possible the whole time we were in town ~ only because I was in a hurry.
It was already getting late so I told Alexa to go find an outfit, I ran with Tyler to the boys department and got him an outfit. Now to the womens department. I chose an outfit. We checked out, left the store, and got in the car. Away we go! With a little protest everyone changed clothes in the car ~ including myself.
We made it to the school just a hair late but not too late!
The ceremony was nice! The sixth grade teacher was one of the special speakers. He had the students line up side by side and gave them each a letter. When he called their name they had to show the letter and he would use a word beginning with that letter to describe that student. What we could see but the students could not is the letters spelled out I WILL MISS THEM I got a little choked up at that. He has been teaching at the school for three years now and this is his first school. Teaching a class of 13 students nine of which are pre-teen girls ~ that is gutsy! He is awesome and the kids love him.
The Eight Grade teacher made a slide show from photos that he has taken through the year. That was really neat. It was announced that he would be giving a copy of the slide show to all the students. Nadine had to bring a disc to school if she wanted a copy. I sent enough discs with her so that anyone who did not have a disc could still get a copy of the slide show.
Nadine and her partner won a 1st Place ribbon for their Science Fair project. Nadine got 1st Place ribbons for the softball throw, the 50 yard dash, and the 600 yard run. That was her goal ~ she actually had a GOAL! To be first! She is my non-competitive one, that one that carries on without a care in the world.
There are very few schools in ND that still graduate the 8th grade but the Diploma that they receive is a legal document with the ND State Seal. I learned that little tidbit last night.
I am sure that I could keep coming up with little things about last night ~ like how I sat up and made a card for each of Nadines classmates. I did not realize that 8th Grade Graduation was such a big deal because I did not graduate from the 8th Grade. It is a big deal! I have to get rolling!
Off and running like a lunatic!
