Christmas Eve

I have decided that I am going to write before I read. It is only 7:14, 7:16, or 7:18 (depends which clock you look at) AM. I have been up for over an hour! It is almost unheard of that I am up and awake at this hour!

Christmas Eve I worked until 6 PM. I think that next year I am not going to work Christmas Eve ~ just tell everyone that I am so that I can still do the last minute running yet not have to go to work. It gets hectic!

When the bar closed and we were all shut down Curly could not find his car keys. We search high and low for them but they went unfound. (I hope that we re-locked all the cabinets and reset the alarm system.) I had to give him a ride to his house so that he could get his other set of car keys. Actually he drove my car because he was the last one to drive it and the seat was set for him. Beside the fact that he knew where to go and he drives faster. When we got back to the HL I told him that we would probably be just getting to his house if I were driving. I am a good rider but a paranoid driver. I am not worried about my driving just everyone else’s driving. So we got him taken care of and I was on my merry way home.

As I was closing Derek called and told me that he was on his way out. Then he asked if it was okay if he brought his girl with him. Just like I told him for Thanksgiving she is welcome any time! Even without him she is welcome at my house.

When I walked in she exclaimed “hi Mom!” I thought that was so neat! I just love that girl!

I think that I need a change of plan for the Christmas Eve Chili! The kids had already eaten chili by the time I got home from work. They were chomping at the bit to open gifts but they know the rules. We eat, clean up, and then open gifts! This year I decided that we would use the fine china and silverware (Styrofoam bowls and plastic utensils) so the clean up was faster.
J & P usually spend Christmas Eve with us. I am not sure why they decided not to come out this year. I really don’t care if they do or don’t come out. They sent Gift Cards home with Dick for the kids. The kids are excited to go to Old Navy now. Derek wonders what he will do with his because that store scares him. I told him that he could send E shopping with it.

Finally time to open gifts. The girls were excited to get their bedding! We had not put out Tyler’s snowboard ~ how would one wrap a snowboard? He had no clue that he has a gift missing and had so much fun playing with his remote controlled car. (If I had only known that they are so loud!) Both Tyler and Alexa got remote controlled cars ~ yes, she wanted one.

I got a CD player for my car and a gift card to pay for the installation. Once again Dick got the short end of the stick! I bought him a pair of work boots that Tyler insisted that he needs. I also bought him foot warmer insoles because when I asked him about the boots he said that his feet get cold. Plus I got him many re-fill packs for the foot warmer. I also gave him the fleece vest and cap that I got at the company Christmas party. Yep, that is the short end of the stick!
