Maxine AKA Sadie

If you’d like to read about he Dru Sjodin case this is the link to the articles in the local newspaper

I have not written about “Sadie.” That is the name of the dog that was up the road swimming in the creek and followed the kids home. I am not sure of her original name but that is what the kid named her and she responds to the name Sadie. Sadie has been hanging around for about three days now.

Yesterday I finally got around to making posters and Dick called the Humane Society trying to find the owner of a lost dog. He left his number with the Humane Society. I put my cell phone number on the posters.

He got a call from the owners. “Sadie” suffers from abandonment issues. If they leave for a “period of time” she takes off. Okay what is a period of time? Days? Weeks? I don’t know! She has her rabies and distemper immunizations. She has been spayed and has had tick medication for May. The owner is going to take her to the Humane Society if we don’t want to keep her. All this information was relayed to me in a note from Dick that I found in my purse this morning. I am sure that he is trying to hide this information from the kids. The note ended just like this “I’m sure we have a plan if you know what I mean.”

He is thinking about keeping this dog! Yeah I know what he means! I just worry about her taking off. We will all be gone for a few days at the end of June. We could put her in the garage with food and water and have the neighborhood kids check up on her.

I don’t know that I want a dog! She is very kid friendly and the kids are already in love with her.

I think we are the new owners of a beautiful Golden Retriever named Sadie. I am thinking of calling the owner and finding out her real name ~ if we end up keeping her.

Later…

I was trying to upload a photo of “Sadie.” My computer sucks so I got interrupted because I had to shut down. Having to shut down was a good thing because it was time to take R home. R is the friend of Nadine’s that spent Saturday night. I now have the photo uploaded but I need to get it onto my web page before I can post it here. Still having trouble, which I think, is Earthlink.

Since starting this I spoke with Dick. The dogs’ name is Maxine. Who names their dog Maxine? He was told that they thought that the dog was a male but found out that it is female. I don’t get that! Dogs are easy to tell aren’t they? So Maxine seems to be happier to be call Maxine rather than Sadie.

After I dropped R off at home the kids and I went to town. Maxine is now the proud new owner of a really cool collar. I got a flea and tick collar for her too. Not to mention food, dishes, bones, play toys, and last but not least a Pooper-Scooper! I told the kids that if they didn’t keep the yard clean of doggy doo-doo that the dog has got to go.

(OMG ~ Nadine even hounds Tyler in her sleep!)
