Sunday Sledding
Sunday I took the kids sledding at Turtle River. Oh man, now I know why parents should not be allowed to supervise when children go sledding. All they do is ruin all the fun! There is one path on the hill that has bump after bump and the kids would eventually wipe out. I made the decision that that one path was just too dangerous when Tyler went ass over teakettle.
The whole plan for the trip started when Nadines boyfriend called and invited her to go sledding. Then Alexa got invited to go with. How fair is that if Tyler could not go? But I would not burden them with Tyler so I decided that I would take Tyler. Since it is $5 per carload I figured that there was no sense in taking just Tyler so I called GW and invited her two children to go sledding. I had forgotten that she had company over the weekend. Whats one more kid? I will bring their daughter too.
But…I had to go to town to get my car before we could go anywhere. It was storming Saturday night when I got done working so I rode home with GW. So…Dick was going to town to wash the pick-up and the 4-wheeler before the pay-per-view wrestling event that he planned on attending at his brothers house. I hitched a ride with him to town. We are going to need snacks and soda plus we were on the last roll of TP! So I made a quick run through Wal-mart while I was in town.
I was in and out faster than I had ever been before! I called GWs kids and told them that I was on my way so that they could be ready when I got there to take them sledding. The day is wasting we have to hurry. I picked them up then had to stop at home to pick up the sleds. The girls were still home! Something about the Grandma using the van to take her boyfriend to work. So I had Nadine call and tell the boys that they would meet them at the hill. We were on our way in no time ~ with a car stuffed tight with kids ~ six total!
The kids had a blast sledding. The boys did not show up until hours later. A van pulls up, four boys and three girls pile out. From what I could figure out, some were cousins, some were siblings ~ his, hers, and theirs sort of thing going on. I talked to the guy driving the van for a bit he seemed nice enough but there is just something that I just do not trust about him. I can not put a finger on it but there was defiantly a vibe that I did not like. They did not stay very long because one of the little girls got hurt.
I planned on staying until dark because the kids were having so much fun. Once the sun started going down it cooled off fast so we decided to leave earlier. On the way home I remembered the GW said that they were going to be working on their kitchen cabinets so I called her and got permission to feed her children. She told me that I am a full-service neighbor. We laughed ~ there was more to the conversation but that was four days ago so I can not remember all of it. I do remember telling her that Dick was gone for the evening if she wanted to send her husband to my house. Then we laughed some more. We just have so much fun together ~ she is just so funny that she keeps me laughing. We all know what laughter does for a person!
For supper we had a smorgasbord. Spaghetti, chicken tenders, hash browns, corn dogs, peas, and corn. I finally got to eat peas because GWs son loves peas. After they ate I took them home.
I am trying to get caught up but I must get ready for work! Maybe I will get more written when I get home from work.
I wish we could get snow here in Texas. We miss out on all the winter fun. Its 85 here. Neele
