The Weekend and Beyond

If you’d like to read about he Dru Sjodin case this is the link to the articles in the local newspaper

The weekend was hectic because I was training some of the new hires. I decided that I am training them to do the closing paperwork. We train them for every aspect of bingo, we train them deal blackjack, but they always lack training in closing because that is “crunch time” and we are always trying to get done and out by 1:00 AM. Sometimes it is not so bad but if the bar manager/owner is there at closing they she (L) just stares at us. He (J) is pretty easy going about it and always says “I have more work to do so you don’t have to hurry.”

In all of my almost five years working there I have never seen him mad. Oh, I got to see it Saturday night! Can you spell TENSION? Wow ~ I hope that I never have to be there for that again.

The 10% Society held their annual Mardi Gras party in the basement. All the bartenders want to work the parties held by The 10% Society because they make outrageous tips. At this party L and J worked and had two sons of friends work (one of them is a former bartender), and the longest employed bartender (he only works one weekend day a week anymore.) So the full-time bartenders did not get to work the party and they were pissed. All week they were pissed so I think they made a plan. One (O) put his notice in and this coming Wednesday was suppose to be his last shift. The other (Jack~ not his real name, short for Jackass) put his notice in ~ I am not sure when he put it in but he said that he had.

When I got to work Saturday they were both there already and drunk. They continued to drink and even the third guy working decided to start working. The two can hide it pretty well if they want to but the third one can not conceal it at all. I told A to be careful because it is quite evident that he is drinking. Believe me this is not the first time that I have seen this. It is none of my business what the bartenders do but we are all like a team whether we work for the bar or in gaming.

Jackass always drinks behind the bar. I have seen it a couple times but he is pretty sneaky about it. I just know the difference between when he is and when he is not drinking. O doesn’t drink behind the bar that often that I can tell. He is goofy all the time so it is harder to tell on him unless he is totally trashed. When I say goofy I mean funny. He is hilarious ~ I am going to miss him.

Neither one of these two are working for the rest of their notice. They were both told to leave before their shift was over. They were busted way earlier because L and J swarmed like hawks every chance that they got and even sent spies. Like they were so sneaky doing that ~ everyone knew. I thought that it was funny because it was so out of character. L would come in through the front door. J would just pop up at different times through the evening.

Sunday afternoon I was informed of the Children’s Choir Festival. The forms were sent home Friday and due back this morning. Let’s talk about time to plan for this adventure! The school does this all the time and their defense is “parents forget if papers get sent home too far in advance.” Let’s just forget that parent work and parents need time to make arrangements for these extra-curricular activities.

Nadine did not have her form in her backpack. “It must be in my locker.” It is pretty tough to get it filled out and signed when it is in your locker. (How about we, as parents, use that as defense ~ kids forget to bring it home. Send the damn forms home sooner.) So another mother, the one that called me, said that she would E-mail the forms to me. She did not E-mail them to me but she had the music teacher E-mail them to me. She had scanned them and saved them in the jpeg format. When I tried to print the forms they printed out 4X6. Now if this was a photo it would not have been so bad but it is a form. Impossible to fill out a form this size an almost impossible to read the minuscule text. But a mother does what she has to do! I re-typed the form, printed three copies (one for each of my girls and one for the little girl that spent the night with Alexa because she also left her form in her locker at school.) And I saved it in a text format and sent the music teacher a copy of the forms so that she would have it if she needs to E-mail it to anyone else.

While doing this yesterday I thought that it was two separate forms but as I look at it this morning I realize that it is two forms on a folded sheet of paper. Oh, I hope that the music teacher prints a copy of the other form that I did not fill out because it is something that she needs to fill out.

Well, I best get moving. I have to do the banking and the audit this morning. I am preparing to stay in town because the weather is so crappy. Dick just called and told me that there is a semi rolled over and a more than a few cars in the ditch along the highway. I will be taking the gravel but I still have to drive on pavement for about 10 miles.

We have been having this yucky weather a few days each week for the past three or four weeks. Last week a car went into the ditch, another car stopped to help them, and then another car hit the ditch in the same spot. This one was a bad one because it injured two people from the vehicle that stopped to help and it killed the driver of the second vehicle that hit the ditch ~ a 19 year old female. She was in the Air Force and had just transferred back here to be closer to home. Sad! She was so young!

Slow down on these icy roads!

You my dear be very carefull driving in that crap. It rained here last night, and oh what a muddy mess! More rain forecast for today, then tomorrow cold again. I’m ready for summer! Have a good day!

That 10% Society is a gay group, right? 🙂 Wanted to say hi and let you know that I am always checking on you but don’t leave notes a lot of the time. I get in moods where I just read…and that is what I have been doing lately. Have you heard that new liberal radio talk show up there? I think the guy’s last name is Shultz or something like that. I saw a show about him last night. Drive safe.

ryn: What a nice note to wake up to. I believe that is the nicest note that anyone has ever left me. Thanks so much. Luv, 🙂

*ryn* What do you mean “crap”?? LOL I just can’t even begin to describe the feelings and change in how i look at life now after the cancer scare i had. Life is short and life is beautiful and while i’m here on earth i want to feel good about myself on the inside. This happened to me for a reason. It was a wake up call for me. I truly believe that. Throw those ciggs away. Ya hear??
