Special Events Pass ~ Girl’s Basketball

I made a list of things that I wanted to write about since I have not been here for a while.

Thursday the girls had a basketball game on base. Yes, on the Air Force Base. Just like they had a game on base last Thursday.

Last Thursday I showed my driver’s license, insurance card, and vehicle registration to the guy in the little hut at the gate. He gave me a Special Event Pass just like that and I went to the game.

This Thursday I took all the documents that I needed to the little hut just as I did the week before and told them that I was going to the basketball game. “I’m sorry I can not allow you on base. There are no Special Event Passes.”

The school did not have it arranged this week like they did last week?

I guess not.

So I stopped and talked to the guard at the gate and asked him about them. No he knew nothing about the Special Event Passes this week.

As I was leaving there was a very young man that motioned for me to stop so I did. He apologized and explained to me that there had been an issue and the guys from the office area at the gate had to leave in a hurry and nothing was brought out. He apologized again and he was very nice! Although I was still angry he made the situation a little bit better.

I headed to the school to chew out someone. I was on a mission to find the coach.

You are probably thinking why would you be looking for the coach? Wouldn’t he be at the game with the team? You would thinks so but I was told that he was not going with the team because of Parent-Teacher Conferences.

I looked around the school for him to no avail! So I was going to leave and as I passed the office I noticed that the Principal was still in her office. So I stopped and asked her about the Special Event Passes. She told me that they should have been there. Then she got on the telephone and called. She was speaking to the guy in the little hut. No he knew nothing about it and he could not allow me on. She tried calling about six people on the base that could vouch me on but no one was answering their telephones. I kept telling her to forget it because I had already missed most of the game and I was sweating bullets because it was so hot in her office. “No I will find someone to get you on base.”

She finally thought of one of the teachers and asked her to drive out there to vouch me on ~ she agreed to do it. When we got there the guard at the gate and the very young man was also standing there ~ ready and waiting for us with Special Event Passes! They had been in the office!

I got there to watch the last period of the game and thirty seconds of the third period. So at least I made it there to watch the girls play a little bit.

Now for the good part! Go back to the beginning when I first tried to enter the base. The guard saw a Special Event Pass in my window and waved me through. I told him “that’s from last week.”

I could have been dishonest about the whole thing and just went through. But as my luck would have it I would have gotten caught. I would have been speeding or something and got stopped. I just know something crazy would have happened.
