Oh, Christmas Tree Oh, Christmas Tree

If you’d like to read about he Dru Sjodin case this is the link to the articles in the local newspaper

Saturday Dick decided that we should have a real Christmas tree this year. We have not had a real tree since 1995, the year Tyler was born. We had that one only because my friends mother (AKA Grandma Hoho) had a tree farm…

I sent Dick out to get a Christmas tree. Rather than getting a tree he started drinking and never got the tree….

The next afternoon I found this little Christmas tree in the front yard. I knew where it had come from and gave the proper thank you. I brought the tree in the house. I decorated the tree. I took care of the tree through the season. I removed the tree from my home.

Since then we have not had a tree. I never again asked him to get a tree! It is not worth the let down.

Saturday Dick went to town with Alexa and Tyler in tow and they brought home a tree. We put it in the stand then added the boiling water as advised by the tree salesman. I think that we need to remove some of the lower branches so that we can put the presents under the tree ~ when there are some presents to put under there.

It is an ugly tree! I thought that it would get better once it warmed up and stretched out but it is not better. It has gaping holes ~ not that there are branches actually missing but branched never grew.

The kids started to decorate the tree while we were at the Christmas party. The called and asked permission and Dick told them “no but whatever.” Whatever meant yes. So they had lights and garland on it.

Sunday morning the kids got up and put more lights and ornaments on the tree. Dick says that it needs me lights because it doesn’t look right from outside. We either have to remove all the ornaments and add more lights, take the flashers out so the lights stay on all the time, or leave it the way it is. I vote for taking the flashers out ~ as much as I like to watch the lights twinkle I do not want to remove all the ornaments just to add more lights.

Now I need to start Christmas shopping sometime soon. I have not started yet because once I start I don’t stop until I can not shop any more. I just keep buying and buying and buying. I just go way over-board and I am not doing that this year.
