Parent Teacher Conferences

I had Parent-Teacher Conferences Thursday night. For the most part the teachers enjoy my children. I heard from all the teachers about how nice Nadine is. She is polite and considerate of others but… she does not hand in her assignments.

After school she was hustling to get some assignments done that she needed to hand in. Still she was missing one or two. “I did that one. I thought that I turned it in.” I actually give her some benefit of the doubt after seeing this teacher’s desk. It was a mess and how could he find anything on it. It may have looked like a mess to me but it may have been very organized to him. So he is getting some of the benefit of doubt too. Either way she got another copy of the assignment and has a chance to get it done and handed in.

That is one good thing about the teachers is they do give the kids a second (and maybe third) chance to get the grades. Any kid flunking in this school is not the fault of the teachers ~ they give chances. Nadine would be one that is flunking if not for chances. Usually she does the assignment then loses it before it gets to the school/teacher. Ugh!

So I had to gave her the “be more responsible because in high school you do not get a second chance” speech.

Alexa is in a little clique! The teacher does not like it because there are a couple nice girls that are left out. One of these nice girls invited every girl in the class to her house after school except for two. Alexa was invited but the other two in the clique were not invited. There is also another girl that Alexa hangs out with now and then but one of the girls in the clique has issues with her about copying everything she does. (I hardly blame A for being upset with D.) Alexa had A spend the night last night ~ these two have been friends since they were in second grade. L joined the group in grade four. Nice little girls. It seems like Alexa tries to get along with everyone even the nemesis of the other two girls. I am not saying that she is perfect in anyway but she gets along with people. She is shy but not withdrawn.

Tyler ~ the teacher that I met with had both the girls when they were in grade two. She said he is right in the middle of their personalities. Not as pokey at Nadine but more pokey than Alexa.

They are all doing fine and they are good kids at school! Whew!
