All Site Managers and Coordinators throughout the state went to the conference so we had a group of 11 people.
From my previous trips to Las Vegas I was thinking that checking into the hotel was going to be a nightmare. But it wasnt this time! I was so glad about that.
Monday night we were free to do as we pleased. A group of us had supper Golden Nugget. I had a turkey club on sourdough. It was made with real turkey thinly sliced. Not deli style ~ chopped and pressed turkey. Then I went to my room. I was sleeping before 10 PM. Yeah, yeah ~ I know I was in the city that never sleeps but apparently I was tired because I did not plan on going to sleep. I turned on the television and got interested in a news story that was on. Out like a light!
One day ran right into the next so some of these accounts may not be truly accurate.
Some time we ate at Chilis. I can not even remember where and when that was. I think it was in an airport…Okay it was on the layover on the way to Vegas in the Minneapolis airport.
These people like to eat. When they say we are eating as a group we have to eat as a group. It is like work! Then we ate at the Golden Nugget later that evening.
Tuesday morning we had a Customer Service Seminar. Oh let me tell you most of the dealers that I come across in Vegas could attend this seminar and get something out of it.
Tuesday night we had supper as a group at an Italian restaurant called The hole in the wall. The best part about the meal was the garlic bread and the cappuccino that was served after the meal.
My former supervisor and I shared an order of Fettuccini Alfredo. I took a small portion and gave him the rest. I am glad that I did ~ it was just too much. And so high priced that I would have hated to waste any of it. I did not mind it but it was nothing special. Too sweet for my liking ~ I have never eaten sweet Fettuccini Alfredo.
Then we were on our own again. I had been wandering around with part of our group then left. I planned on going back to the room to get some money. I dont carry it all on me because I would get crazy and blow every last dime in my pocket. Once I got back to my room I decided to stay there.
I woke up early because I went to bed so early. I was listening to the news (weather report) and all it talked about was Hurricane Isabel. I was worried about SunshineGuy and his two lady friends so I called him. It was his birthday I was going to call him anyway. He said that he would be fine, contrary to popular belief. He read me VLs entry about her shopping extravaganza. I was still worried but I laughed (with) at her entry. He was just getting online so I had him look up the weather for the Frozen Tundra. He gave me the temperature and wind speed so I was expecting it to be about 55° F.
Wednesday was the Global (I have been calling it World) Gaming Expo. We all went together then split up and walked through and looked at all the booths that were set up. Some were giving out funky give-away stuff. My prized possession is the coffee mug I got from Slotland. That is an Internet slot site. Most of the other stuff that I got I gave to the kids.
I swear I walked my ass off Wednesday! So why did I still have my ass when I woke up Thursday? Wait…I did not wake up Thursday. I stayed up all night Wednesday. Well I still swear that it should be smaller!
After the expo we were all on our own again. A group went back to Fremont Street and a group (the group that I was with) went to the strip. There were four of us and my supervisor had the plan. We went ran through some casinos just for DL to see ~ it was his first time to Vegas. Lets see if I can remember them The Venetian, Imperial Palace, Caesars, and at least one other one in the vicinity. Then back to the Imperial Palace because one of my former dealers works there so we stopped and talked to him for a bit then we had to run again. We hopped in the rented van and headed to the Stratosphere. The guys were going on the Big Shot. So I hung out in the Sphere. Do you think that I had my camera on me? Not a chance! After their ride we hopped in the van again and headed to The Plaza to meet up with the Bigs and OpD to see the comedy show. I enjoyed that a lot. We got to sit! I was ready, more than ready for a rest. DL took off because he was not interested in the comedy show.
After the comedy show I decided to walk around for a while. I ran into DL so we walked together. We played some cards for a bit. When I got down to my last $5 chip on the Three-Card Poker table I took that $5 chip to the Blackjack table. I played for quite a while on my $5 but the most I was ahead was $30. They changed dealers and he kicked my ass! Fast! So we went walking again. (DL and I went to Junior High together. We know some of the same people. He is fun to hang out with at least we can start talking about Smalltown, MN when we have nothing left to talk about.) Found OpD and KR playing blackjack somewhere. KR was done playing so the three of us took off together. We ended up at the Golden Nugget watching KR play slots. He did okay. He was the biggest winner on our trip. It is now about 3 AM so we decided to go for breakfast. On our way back to Fitzgeralds we ran into BN so he joined us for breakfast.
After breakfast I went to my room and took a shower and got my stuff back into my bag. Thinking that if I get done soon enough that I will go play some. I did not have time to play we were all meeting at 5 in the front lobby.
We all hopped into the rented vans and roared off to the airport. Time flies when you are having fun. I must have been having fun because we were on the plane and taking off before I knew it.
What do you think was the first thing we did when we got back to the Minneapolis airport? If you guessed eat you are right! When I ordered chicken strips and onion rings I did not want the chicken strips, French fries, and Cole slaw plus a side of onion rings. But that is what I got! It is a good thing that we are all like family I had help eating what I ordered.
Soon enough after eating we were boarding the plane puddle jumper. I looked at the monitor with the flight information on it. It said that the temperature in the Frozen Tundra was 46°F. Brrr! Really brrr since I was still wearing my sandals and had no socks on my feet!
This flight was not so smooth. The weather was cold and cloudy. Very bumpy, scary ride. I got off the plane puddle jumper, grabbed my luggage, then went outside to call Dick to come and get me. I had to wait a bit because he was busy at work but it did not take too long. I got home divvied up all the junk I collected at the Expo between the kids. I had enough junk for Tyler to be able to give the girls the charm bracelets that I bought them. I never did find anything for the boys (Bad Mom.) The kids were eating supper, I laid down on the couch to watch whatever Dick was already watching. Good Night ~ I was out like a light. I woke up around 2:40 and read in OD until I was ready to vomit.
I am better tonight (right now.) Earlier I almost fell down due to the dizziness and standing up too fast. This will subside soon! Now I am ready to hit the hay. I want to read but my eyelids are getting heavy.
I should have taken note. This would have been more intere
It sounds like you had a good time! I feel bad for you though that you are not feeling good. Maybe some dramamine might help you. {{hugs}}}to you

ryn: Thanks for your note. That wasn’t the note that I meant–the hostile note was from an earlier entry, it was just left recently. The note you mentioned, from the Californian, didn’t seem hostile to me at all.

Sounds like you had a good time. I’ve always wanted to go to Vegas…my daughter and her family lived there for about nine months but we never got to go visit them.

Who was the one you went to Jr High with in Small Town, MN? Do I know him, or of him? You can respond in an email if you would like… Oh, and yes, I agree about the whole eating thing. I remember when I was home… er, stuffed! Still feeling bloated after all that!!! LOL
