I am home now – back in NYC, back at work, back to reality.  Which is still pretty darn great!

The past couple of weeks of French class went well – I learned a lot and made good progress in terms of new tenses and grammar.  Vacation/relaxation-wise everything was great too, I swam almost every day and got in lots of nice long runs along the waterfront.  The weather was on the cooler side most days (which is why no one was swimming in that photo a couple of entries ago) but temps were perfect for me.  Drank lots of wine, ate tons of fresh fuit and cheese and baguettes, and even kept up with work so no surprises upon my return. I took one last set of photos walking back from school on my last day.

Most of the homes in town are seasonal getaways – I love how almost every villa has its own, carefully chosen, name:

Home (for a few weeks):

Flight back was uneventful and S came to meet me at the airport.  We hugged for like five minutes before saying anything.  On the subway, we met a girl bringing her brand-new pit bull puppy home.  We had a great night on Sunday and a really nice bonus day of vacation together on Monday.  Spin class Tuesday morning and by 6am it was already hot and humid.  Work went quickly and I left at 6pm for a mani/pedi – dark blue green and shiny.  Met S out for drinks afterwards, then pizza after that and a run to the bus in the pouring rain, getting soaked, laughing our heads off and holding hands while we ran.

I love all the gates! New dream: house with ornate gate.

what an amazing place to experience! you are so fortunate to have been able to do that. 🙂

Beautiful pics. If I lived there, I don’t think I’d be able to leave… a close friend of my bestie S is from Nice and I just don’t understand how she can bear to be away from that gorgeous place – or why she would choose to live in DC instead! I guess it’s probably just mundane for her though, having grown up there. Sounds like you and S have had a lovely reunion. 🙂

Such a beautiful place to live! I almost wish you had convinced S to leave everything behind, and you both decided to live in France forever, and ever, and ever. HAH. Yes, I’m nuts.

Love the pics! I want your life 🙂 RYN: I agree…fell for them in college. Such a sweet treat for $1.00…those cakes, alcohol and the pizza joint across campus is what caused me to gain The Freshman 15+15.

it’s like the garden district in new orleans. i wanted to hop over the gates and beg them to let me stay for mint juleps or something. but that was probably all the anne rice i read as a kid. welcome home! ryn: part of me is still in denial. like, of course they didn’t ruin that bag. it was all photoshop!

so cool that you’re taking the time to have this experience 🙂 and so sunny. real vacation weather. whenever I was in that region in summer, it felt too hot to do anything, you probably just caught the right season. 🙂

It all sounds so romantic and beautiful. Glad you had such an amazing time there. And thank you for the wonderful photographs. I dream of going there someday. Until then… there’re always pictures. 🙂 You and S are just too adorable.

Those are so beautiful.

Love the villa names. My friends from Toronto have a beautiful private cottage on the beach by where I grew up. A brass sign proudly nailed in place, it was called Moon Dock. One of my favorite places on earth.

yea for 5 minute hugs and laughing/holding hands in the rain… what wonderful pictures…

ryn: I knooow! it’s so expensive. 🙁 I hate to spend that kind of money – it is overpriced. But I am worried about hitting traffic and not getting to NY until very late Friday night. I only have through lunchtime on Sunday and every hour is precious. Maybe I’ll take the train there and bus it back. 🙂
