French Canadian

It’s been a cold month, spent the first 2 weeks of January sick with a cold and then the next two on a ridiculously restrictive food plan. It’s working though, so can’t complain.

Better things:
– Meeting S at his office to watch him get fitted for custom shirts by a tall stunning female stylist – she came bearing scotch and swatches! Can’t wait to see the shirts.
– Haywire screening, I think I wrote about that already. Also I need to take up boxing.
– Preview reception of Rufus Wainwright’s new opera Prima Donna at the Guggenheim. Singers were amazing, Rufus himself seemed like a bit of a prat, messed up on piano and made a huge fuss. Mentioned he was commissioned by the Met but fell out with them because he refused to write the opera in English as they requested, so moved to BAM who took it in French. Canadian French.
– French classes every Saturday, I have been meaning to do this for literally years so am very happy.
– Loads of pampering appointments, if I can’t eat or work out much I need something to do!
– Someone sent me some video of a fashion show where I’m in the audience, I was totally mesmerized watching myself and S. I watched it twice through – because I am a narcisstic dork.
– Friday night at the Highline Ballroom to see Coeur de Pirate, a charming French-Canadian singer. Adorableness ensued…she’s a cross between Tippi Hedren and Amy Winehouse I think. My fave songs, "Adieu" (with cute video) and "Golden Baby."
– Traveling for work, mostly short and smooth jaunts, thankfully!
– Movie nights cuddled up at home.
– Buying too much fake fur, six inch heels, and feathered clothing items in prep for February events.

Overall a pretty laid back month – February and 2012 overall is going to be a little wild I think though so that’s good.

I hope there are also sequins with the fake fur/heels/feathers!

I spent a delightful moment trying to figure out why S would need custom shorts – and why they’d be fitted in a place classy enough to bring him scotch. Then it all made sense when I read the rest.

IMHO I really don’t think Rufus Wainwright is all that. Nor his father. They’re fine, but they’re not exceptional. Martha’s got more going on as a songwriter, IMHO.

I am intrigued about the eating plan, the fake fur, and so forth!

I want to see the video of you!! I know, right? I’m pretty sure no one actually from Rhode Island is aware they have a style. It was a cracker-type crust, though, so maybe they’re just ashamed of their inferior pizza 😉

IS THERE SUCH A THING AS TOO MUCH FAKE GUR AND SIX-INCH HEELS??? 😉 What kind of diet are u doing, woman?? I wish I had your willpower for such a restrictive diet, I am so weak, I struggle enough going low carb! Je ne parlais pas Francais, j’ai étudié à l’ecole, mais j’ai tout oublié. (I don’t think that’s even right!)

ryn: how did you guess the company?! did i write it somewhere? BAHAHA! I thought i was hiding it fairly well because i figured no one would have heard of them (I’d never heard of them until I saw the job posted and did a bunch of research). ps. this entry made me go listen to a million coeur de pirate songs yesterday FYI
