WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR SOCIETY

Who am I to even presume to know what is wrong with our society?

Who am I to judge other people?

Every situation has many causes and probably most of the time there are many different reasons why things occur?

It can never be attributed to one cause like I tried to blame the tragedy on working parents. I am sorry! This was so naive! This was a very prejudiced and stupid remark.

Society has developed over years and each situation like in Connecticut cannot be blamed on one thing. There were probably many contributing factors.

I know one thing. The TV should NOT go one and on about the tragedy. It probably contributes to copycat crimes. I can see someone watching and thinking, "Hey! Maybe I can do something like that and become very "popular!"

I know another thing. Families are suffering now and will be suffering for many years to come. Way after TV has finished with the story and moved on to the next one.

My friend lost a daughter many years ago and is still grieving.

If it was in my power I would not allow the event to be broadcasted day and night.

I don’t know how the children who lived through the tragedy will ever get over it.

How will the siblings of the deceased cope? Their parents are overwhelmed with grief.

I wonder how the rest of the world is reacting to the tragedy!

So forgive this old, stupid woman for blaming the working parents. I know that every parent does the best for their children. Twenty whacks with a wet noodle for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many others are jumping on the ban guns band wagon. But they are finding more and more that this shooter had a history of mental instability. It is extremely expensive to get mental health care and to keep people on the medications that they are given. One more gun law will not stop the killings if a person is determined to do it. Society has desensitized violence and death so until we changethe types of movies, TV, games that are so common place all the gun control in the world will not make a difference. We are now being taught to hate with all the media, movies, etc. When our youth are taught to love and to love themselves then things can start to change for the better. This is my opinion.

I heard the weapons used were owned by the mother of the shooter. Why on earth would you keep guns in your house if your son had a history of mental instability? This tragedy has so many questions and is so very sad.

Too bad the mother wasn’t more careful with her guns (she had 5 of them, all loaded and readily accessable to her mentally disturbed son) this should not have happened.

and by the way she wasn’t a working mom, her ex husband was supporting them all.

Sometimes I wish I knew what was really wrong and knew how to fix the problems we have in this world today. But alas I do not. I do know that I can be of help to my family and help my grandchildren try to work through this. Little Zach asked me “Granny why did they want to kill kids?” I explained that his thinking was not right at the time and he needed help….

Zach is 10, and he needs reassurance that he is safe at school. His mother, my daughter works at the elementary school so she is there with him and we know all the staff. I used to volunteer often. I still do once in a while. I may be spending more time there again. Love,
