EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AND THAT’S OK

My friend’s husband was taken into emergency last night. He’s had a few bouts of back pain in his back over the last few weeks but it went away. Last night I guess it was worse. So he is in emergency. She is HOME!!!!!!! She has a son who is mentally challenged. She doesn’t want to take him to his "home" where he lives most of the time because she thinks he would walk himself over to the hospital. She she is home and her hubby is in the hospital. She said her hubby called that he wanted to leave the hospital. She went over to take him home. He was yelling and very upset. The nurses took away his shoes so he can’t leave. She went home. I would NEVER leave a family member alone in the hospital especially if they were so upset. They need someone to look after them. They need someone to speak for them. They need someone to hold their hand. She said there was no where to sit. WHAT??????????? Go get a chair or ask someone. I wanted to encourage her to go back with me but I have to be honest I didn’t want to go. I have plans at home for the day. I did tell her I would go if she wanted to. I am on call. When my DIL’s father was there he was never left alone. His wife, daughter or son was there around the clock.
Yesterday I was running all day!!!!!!!!! I woke up very early. Lately I get up around five. I did my usual routine and then left for the periodontist. he said I am much better. He doubled the medication. Then I went for lunch and to pick up my grandson. I took him to a psychologist for some tests. I wish I could send his mother instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is so tough on him. After the tests I took him home and she badgered him about arguing with her etc. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are an adult. Can’t you give him a break?? He was upset from having to go through the tests etc. I have to take him back next week. I was so different. I never punished. Maybe it was wrong but luckily my children turned out great. My mother never punished me.
Anyhow I’ll be back maybe. Lunch!

I agree that a person should never be left alone in the hospital. You would be a really good friend if you went and stayed with the guy in the ER. She’ll never forget you doing this.

So heartbreaking to read your friend wasn’t/couldn’t stay in the ER with her husband. Have you received an update on his condition?
