TEN MINUTES
I am not sure what I would take if I had to leave my house in ten minutes. Actually as I think about it there is nothing that comes to mind. Maybe my computer as it has a ton of pictures on it.
Clothes? – no
Books – can be replaced
Jewellery – my Mother’s ring
So in the end there is nothing I would really run for. Sad but true. Material things are not important at all.
I think I can’t live without any of my “stuff”, but if my house burnt down I probably would have no idea what I really had to miss.

I would take my kids, my cats and my ass out of there, everything else is just stuff.

You should put together a folder or personal lock box with all your important documentation–passport, will, banking information, copy of yoour driver license, school transcripts, etc. and any pieces of personal jewelry you value. Keep that in an easily accessible place, with your purse nearby. Then, if you only have 10 minutes to grab and go, you could spend 9 of them picking up incidentals that don’t matter, because it would only take a minute to grab what you truly need to re-establish yourself if a true disaster occurred.

Since you have been one of my faves for a long time, I want to tell you something private. I heard a rumor that you are a man and your diary is fake. What do you think of that? I think it’s really really weird! I never questioned your identity and never had a reason to.

my camera, several Holy books, my meds, special family photos, computer, my journals, personal documents such as passport, handbag, some warm clothing and a large bottle of water. Of course I’d make sure the cats were out of it too or I’d take them. I’ve thought about it often….best to plan just in case. One never knows. hugs P

I miss the family heirlooms the most, but I wouldn’t have been able to get them out of the house anyway. Having almost lost my son in my fire — human life is the only thing that is important!
