NO MORE

I don’t think I will buy magazines anymore. When I feel the need to buy a magazine I will buy a puzzle book instead. I just started to buy WOMAN’S WORLD every week. Well today it had an article about the Queen or whoever is getting married and her secrets to weight loss. Well give me a break. WHO CARES?????????? Why does every magazine have secrets to losing weight? Why do people buy these magazines? If they didn’t lose weight last month why would they lose now?????? How gullible or desperate are these women anyhow????

WHY ARE PEOPLE SO TAKEN BY THE QUEEN, ACTORS AND ACTRESSES? THEY ARE JUST ORDINARY PEOPLE AND MOST OF THEM ARE NOT WORTH ANYTHING. MAYBE THEY ARE SKINNY! MAYBE THEY WEAR FANCY CLOTHES! SO WHAT??????????????????????

I know the secret to losing weight. MOVE YOUR BODY. GET OUT OF YOUR CHAIR! WALK UP THOSE STAIRS. MOVE! WALK! IN OTHER WORDS EXERCISE.

STOP OBSESSING ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT AND I PROMISE YOU WILL BE THE RIGHT WEIGHT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

MAYBE STOP EATING AFTER SUPPER. TAKE A WALK INSTEAD.

BEFORE YOU EAT SOMETHING YOU SHOULDN’T ASK YOURSELF IF YOU REALLY WANT IT.

A MINUTE ON YOUR LIPS FOREVER ON YOUR HIPS.

TELL YOURSELF YOU WILL EAT IT LATER. YOU PROBABLY WON’T WANT IT BY THEN.

GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK. IF YOU STOP HARASSING YOURSELF, WEIGHING YOURSELF, CRITICIZING YOURSELF YOU WILL FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF AND MAYBE THEN YOU WON’T WANT TO OVEREAT.

ALL IN ALL LOVE YOURSELF. BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF. STOP THINKING ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT. FIND A HOBBY YOU LOVE WHERE YOU MOVE. I THINK MOVING MORE IS THE KEY. I KNOW IT’S THE KEY FOR ME. TOMORROW IT’S BACK ON THE WII.

LOVE IT. I stopped buying magazines about 2yrs ago when I started seeing through the “gossip” nature of magazines, and I thought to myself ‘I can’t stand hanging out with people who gossip, and I can’t stand it in the written word anymore either’!

Hear hear. Magazines make me feel ugly and old.

i am fascinated by them though, i can’t help it….

I enjoy reading those magazines. I love the Royal Family and I respect that they are helping people with their weight loss secrets since being overweight is unhealthy. I wish I could stick with those diets myself.I rarely criticize myself when I overeat though, and I do applaud them for sharing their secrets as it allows me to recognize personally that they have the same problems average folks do.

🙂

I love some magazines too but believe they are definitely not worth paying for – at least not the price they sell for right off the rack. (subscriptions are a looootttt cheaper). I’m kind of intrigued by Prince William and Kate’s wedding! It’s all so romantic and royal. 🙂

I was watching the Colbert Report the other night and he was talking about how some company invented an underarm deodorant to make a woman’s underarms “more attractive” I mean it was hilarious and sad at the same time because it was TRUE! He ended by saying how much can we exploit women’s insecurities to make more money, it is really sad but true! Anyway I thought it was funny! 😀

Magazines? Never buy them, not even quilting magazines any more. Who buys them? People who don’t read much and need pictures with their reading. Possibly women who are bored? I don’t know, but I love this entry

I love how people (namely, the diarist above) assume that people who “need pictures” or “don’t read much” are the only ones who read magazines. I read them because I enjoy them. I also read all kinds of books. But you know, according to that person, there is apparently a stigma that reading magazines means you’re stupid. Whatever.

women’s world is one of the worst. Every issue has something about weight loss.

I don’t think seedys meant so sound judgemental. They are older than many of that have commented so I am sure their comment came from an elderly persons perspective from an era when they read mainly novels and not magazines.

Hell, Seedy’s isn’t elderly!! Good grief, she’s about the same age as I am! I think (according to an unwilingly overheard conversation at work) that it is not the Queen of England who is losing weight, but her soon-to-be grandaughter-in-law. I don’t read those magazines, not do I give even one hoot about the Royal Family, but I suppose it is better than porn or drugs as an interest. I must agree with you, restrict portion sizes and be more active … most people can lose weight taht way. It is the brain that moves the hand out to grab the food that needs to change … “secrets” my fat foot.

Personally, I love reading and read tons of books and magazines. Maybe you ‘ve not tried the ones that are not totally focused on issues that are “overdone”. Try Psychologies, Going Bonkers, Popular Mechanics, Utne, Good, Backpacker, Natural Home, First (for women), and Readers Digest. All of these are excellent mags.
