LETTER TO LUCILLE BALL

I wish I could have met you. I love your shows and have watched each episode hundreds of times. I wish they were on more often. You were certainly a very funny lady. I wonder how you were in real life. I heard that you didn’t get along with or like the Mertzes. Was that true?

I had so many favourite episodes. The one with the wine making? the chocolate factory? etc etc.

Your daughter comes to Century Village. Maybe one day I’ll get a chance to talk to her about you.

I had a cousin that was obsessed with her and, actually found her address, then phone number. They would talk on the phone for hours. Not kidding–until his mother found the phone bill and that was it with phone calls. But, she was very gracious. He was all of 16 or 17 at the time and she still gave her time to talk to him about his personal issues. Amazing woman, according to her and, after hearing that she did that with him, I agree.

Lucille Ball was close friends with Vivian Vance who played Ethel. She talked her into continuing acting on the newer version of the show.
