WHY? WHY? WHY?
Some of you may wonder why I am so obsessed with making money when I don’t really need it. Well, I have always wanted to make my own money. I have always wanted to be a financial success. I have always wanted to be independent and NOT have to ask my hubby for money.
I know I have been a success at being a mother and wife. But for whatever reason at this stage of my life it is just not enough. It’s like been there and done that.
I want to accomplish more. Maybe making money should not be a priority at this stage of life but it’s what I want to do with the rest of my life.
I want to have an income whatever amount that is. Just enough to buy stuff for my hobbies and BOOKS!!!!!
I want to take a trip or buy whatever I want without asking hubby for the money. I feel like it is his money. I know that’s wrong. I know I worked hard and earned right along with him. BUT BUT old attitudes die hard. Even if my ideas have changed his haven’t.
(I JUST SPILLED COFFEE ON MY CLEAN WHITE TSHIRT)
Hubby does tell me about our finances but I don’t understand. All I know is that our basic expenses are quite high and I don’t know how we can cut them down. Do we give up the trailer? It would save us thousands a year but hubby wouldn’t. He also would never give up the condo in Florida. Not that I would want to unless we had to. I don’t have a say. I could cut down on small expenses and I do try. We have cut down going out to eat. It’s not enough to make a difference so the only solution I see is to make some money on my own. SO I WILL! I am well on my way. I am devoting alot of time to succeeding and I will.
I want to take my grandchildren to Israel for their thirteenth birthday. I need lots of money for that! Maybe hubby could afford it but I don’t know for sure. Besides who knows what stage we’ll be in in eight years. OY!!!!!!! I know that’s why I am going on the WII most days and that’s why I am trying to lose weight. I am going to stay in shape so I will be in good health to travel.
I am also keeping busy in fact very busy with my business and that’s a great thing for my morale. It’s keeping me busy and out of trouble. I don’t have time to think.
The Herbalife products are WONDERFUL! I have never felt so alive and healthy. My clothes are getting loose! I am losing inches and firming up. I don’t need a nap every day. My sugar level has never been so low. The shakes are easy to make and delicious. I will probably have one for lunch today also. I must lose weight.
I am reading a book about people in Montreal who have made a difference. One woman talked about old people who use to go to the senior centre but now can’t afford to go anymore. I am planning to go to the centre and donate some money so a few people who can’t afford a membership or a course will be able to go. I feel sad for seniors who are lonely and can’t afford to go to the centre which has so much to offer. One more thing I will be able to do with the money I make. Help others who don’t have.
So that’s my story.
HAVE A GREAT DAY. FOR ONCE IT LOOKS LIKE THE SUN WILL SHINE!

Hello, saw you on the front page and hope you don’t take offence at what I am about to say. You need to learn to understand the finances. Even if it takes hours and you have to go over it a hundred times you need to know what it entails. Even though you feel like it is “his” (albeit still both of yours) money, you cannot know what tomorrow will bring and if heaven-forbid something wereto happen to your husband you do not want to have to deal with the grief of having lost him AS WELL AS having to learn all that in a crash course. Please! I have seen it happen to several women and hate to see it ever happen again to anyone.

RYN – I know that you have to eat to lose weight… I wasn’t trying to starve myself or anything. The last few days I’ve felt very nauseous every time I eat something, so naturally I haven’t wanted to put much into my mouth! (huggles)

Nothing wrong with wanting to earn your own money. This makes perfect sense to me, you wanting to earn some of your own money. Stick with it and you will go far.

Oh that is so sweet of you to think of those seniors and want to help. The first step to financial security is making out a list…money coming in, money going out. Once you know how much you have, it isn’t so confusing. I would insist on hubby sharing that information. It’s only simple addition and subtraction. Subtract the bills from the income and that’s what you have left to spend.

Right now you are thinking like a teenager living at home with her parents, wanting to get a part-time job. That’s not appropriate. You’re thinking like all the money and property belongs to big daddy. If he died tomorrow, it would all be in your hands. So get going on a list. Write it all down. Add and subtract. Participate. Pay attention. This is YOUR business to know. Don’t be intimidated.

Knowing what you want is a great thing. And, you always can change your mind down the road, if you decide something else is a higher priority. Blessings and good luck to you, my friend!

money in a marriage belongs to and is the right of both parties. You shouldn’t have to ask him for every penny….but I am surprised that you don’t have an independent income. Are you not both on a retirement pension now? That is paid equally between you both. Legally, as you have been married so long, everything in the marriage belongs to both of you equally, unless you had a pre-nup. At leastthats how it is in NZ. Check with a lawyer. hugs p
