MY HANUKAH PARTY – 2009 – OK

Our annual Hanukah party is over for another year. Hubby is exhausted. I’m tired too but want to clean up a bit more and then maybe I’ll go to bed. I don’t have to get up early and nothing is planned for tomorrow so no rush to get to bed.
I spent the day rearranging the furniture and cutting potatoes. I cut way too much so will make potato latkes tomorrow and freeze them. I’ll serve them Friday night when I have hubby’s family.
The party was a huge success. I was a bit upset at the beginning because a few couples came a half hour early and I HATE THAT. I told these two couples NOT to come early. Anyhow I got over it fast. Next time I will tell certain people to come half hour later. I’m NOT ready a half hour early.
My friend made the latkes. It took longer than I remember. Maybe we made too much. They were all eaten though. We served deli which is very easy. I used paper plates etc.
Then I read a poem called TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE HANUKAH. My friend played the accordion and everyone sang and clapped. It brightens up the party. I read another story about the olden days and everyone enjoyed the memories. Then we sang Happy Birthday to another friend who turned 75!!!!!!!!!!!! She sure doesn’t look it.
I served dessert. Everyone helped themselves and by 11 everyone was gone.
All in all a very fun evening.
Tomorrow I will relax, make latkes and maybe just maybe I’ll go swimming.

Happy Hanukkah! Sounds like the shindig went well and was a lot of fun…Takes a lot to host something like that, I’ve never done it myself. Where do you go swimming in Canada in December? I am shivering just thinking about it…is in an indoor pool?

people who come early are rude and uncivilized and you don’t have to let them in (just kidding). but really!!!! let them sit alone in the living room next time while you get ready.

It sounds like a wonderful party! I know what you mean about early arrivals setting you on edge…those precious 30 minutes are generally the time allotted for getting dressed in my party duds 🙂
