STAYING HOME TODAY – OK

I am staying home but maybe I should go out. It’s a typical fall day. Cloudy and dull. My cleaning lady is here so I have made some changes with hubby’s boxes. We moved them into the laundry room for it’s a good place to store stuff we aren’t using. I always thought I would paint down there but the truth is I’m not and probably won’t.
I still have to get on the treadmill but I have plenty of time so will do it soon.
I am still trying to decide about NY. My daughter is insistent that she wants to stay in New York city but I keep telling her it is very expensive. She says she wants to pay the difference but where will she take the money????? I have friends who stay in Secaucus, NJ and they say it’s cheaper than NY and fine. I wish I had told her right away that I didn’t want to go with her.
It’s strange. The nails on my right hand are short and the left are ok. Do I do too much with my right hand????
Anyhow I’m going to see if there’s any area I can clean and give stuff to my cleaning lady. I love to get rid of things.

You can get some really good deals on hotwire.com. You won’t know the exact hotel you are getting but if it is a 4 star for $100 right in the city it will be decent!

nyc would be way too expensive for me. sure wish i had a cleaning lady. take care,

If your daughter is willing to pay the difference in cost, why not stay in New York City? I think the feel of the city would be fabulous!

Stay in staten island, there is a ferry there that takes you to manhattan(nyc), You can spend money on a metropass, one fee to ride the busses and trains all day lol. I do not suggest riding the trains after dark especially when alone. Ride th LETTER trains but not the nUMBEr trains ie. D train, B train, but don’t ride the 1, 2 or 3 train. those are just ideas that’s all Here is one go online and register for the BIG APPLE GREETER , it’s free. They give you your own tour guide, if you register in enough time. That person will show you around the city ,,etc. and you don’t have to pay them (you pay for your own meals, and carfare etc), BIG apple greeters is totally free

lol, yea, don’t go to nyc lol.. if you do Watch out when you cross the streets okay. some of our cars, busses do NOT stop at red lights. Just wait and make sure that the cars are stopped before crossing. my friend (tourist),long time friend, almost got killed here because I forgot to tell her that. Lol..she comes rom a town where they DO stop at red lights. In manhattan, lots of cabbies try not to stop, and they trurn corners against the light. Thats houw my friend almost bot hurt. they missed her by inches. she goes I HAD THE LIGHT… I told her that don’t matter, just watch and wait till the cars stop.

reemember to ride the staten island ferry.. it’s free lol… you get the ferry somewhere downtown manhattan, nyc. and it goes to staten island and back it’ just fun. one of the cheapest tourist attractions going.

I can tell you have a lot on your mind right now. I hope everything works out okay with NYC. The purpose is to have a good time, not to be stressed out. It took me a long while to learn to accept my daughter’s generosity, too. But it makes them feel good to be able to treat us (their mother’s) every now and then. *hugs*

IF you decide to stay in Manhattan, insist on a hotel floor that is BELOW the 7th or 10th floor. Lots of times we have fires in hotels here (even the good ones), and our ladders don’t reach up to the top floors of our hotels. Bring a small flash light with you on your trip to nyc, with good batteries lol, our staple of life when traveling in nyc

Get some rest in there. And rest for your mind is always good…hope ya get that too! {{{HUGS}}}

I avoided NYC, but then I was driving by myself when I was in the area. I’d love to go into the city sometime.

RYN I live about ten minutes from manhattan, and I am planning a big move (away from manhattan)… I can’t really recommmend a hotel but only recommend that you stay on the lower floors of the hotel if you stay right in manhattan. lol..when a close friend of mine came in from Ohio, they stayed in Cherry Hill , New Jersey and then later on drove to manhattan but parked in another borough. actually, they stayed in cherry hill, yikes, not sure if that was jersey or PA, and then drove to staten island, parked the car there and then took the ferry to manhattan. On the way back they took the busses to downtown brooklyn , yes, they did it the long way but it was the trouistly safer way to do it. You will see all our guide books say TAKE THE TRAIN.. but honestly, we don’t promote using the train. personally, i never take the metros.. I have taken amtrac, that is the nicer train but it doesn’t in manhattan it goes FROM manhattan to other places in nys and in jersey etc. sorry , can’t be of help there. if i wasn’t so occupied with moving and packing I probably would be able to think better, abou

RYN Most new yorkers and others would tell you take the train, that’s fine. but they wouldn’t be telling you the truth. people like to promote our city. MOST times, nothing happens to our tourists here, as long as they dont’ travel the trains alone , after dark .. Travel as a family in groups or with the big apple greeter. LOL..the big apple greeters will tell you that ny is WONDERFUL…that’s why they volunteer for that. They love NY. Most of my family has moved out of nyc, and gone to long island, and statem island and to jersey. There are just a few of us left here…

My son is out tonight, probably in nyc. And I pray for his safe return. (He travels alone when he comes back home). He is a seasoned new yorker ..and manhattan is part of his life. So, I pray.

If someone was willing to pay for you to jump off a bridge, would you take that free offer? lol, sorry couldn’t resist that DO what gives you less stress; do what YOU want to do, no matter which person is paying for it. if you want to go, then go. If you do not want to go, then do NOT go, even if your daughter is paying for it.

my mom offered to pay for a cruise for me, but at the time, I did NOT want to go on a cruise. well nice offer, expensive, but it wasn’t worth any money to me since I did not want to go on a cruise at that time. Do what you want to do.
