ELIE WEISEL – OK

It was a wonderful evening. I picked up my friend at five. We went downtown. We parked the car near the theater and then walked to a nearby restaurant. Along the way we saw many people that we knew. There was at least 2000 people at the talk. It was free as a member of the Jewish community sponsored the evening. I think they should have asked us for donations. We sat up near the roof but there were large screens so we didn’t miss anything. The evening was moderated by a Rabbi and a Priest. I’m sorry that my hubby was not interested in going. We miss out on so much because he isn’t interested. Often I don’t want to go out at night etc.

Tonight was really worth it. What a dynamic speaker. He spoke about the Holocaust. He talked about how babies were thrown into fires. He talked about how babies were smashed against trees. Probably worse happened!
He talked about how terrible indifference is.
He talked about how ONE person can make a difference.
He talked about all the work he does to help people in need.
He talked about how important reading and education is.
He talked about reaching out to people of different religions etc and sitting and learning with them.
He talked about how we each see the world from our own perspectives but it doesn’t matter.
People need to show others that they care. It can be with money and it can even be with a hug or smile.
I can’t remember other points that he made. I wonder if some of his talk will be on you tube. I will check and let you know. If you go to you tube and enter his name you will be able to hear some of his talks. I just ordered his famous book NIGHT!
