WONDERFUL WEEKEND IN EILAT

This weekend hubby and I were in Eilat. We took the bus there and back! The ride there was exciting but on the way back it was long, hot and boring.

When we got to the hotel on Friday they were overbooked so they moved us to a much nicer hotel on the beach. We checked into the hotel and then went swimming. I couldn’t believe when my hubby agreed to go swimming. He never likes to get wet. We swam for awhile and then had a rest before we headed for the dining room for a very special supper.

Saturday morning we were up early. We had breakfast at the hotel. Breakfasts in Israel and Poland are AMAZING! Everything and anything you can think of!!!! I am not sure if breakfasts are the same in other parts of the world.

Then we met our tour guide and we were off to PETRA, JORDAN!!!!!!! Once we crossed the border between Israel and Jordan we had a two hour drive to Petra. On the way we saw WONDERFUL mountains. Did you know that a desert has mountains? Hubby didn’t realize it and I certainly didn’t the first time I was here. They are so different from the ones we see in North America.

Then we got to Petra. We walked through narrow passes through VERY tall mountains. Apparently there was an ocean or sea or whatever there many many years ago. We saw the "building" which was called the Temple of Doom or something like that in the movie with a famous man – Indiana Jones.

It’s late and I’m tired!!!!!!!!! It was very impressive! We walked a total of two and a half hours. Then it was time to go back. The only way back is to retrace your steps. Well most of us wouldn’t do that. The guide told us there wasn’t enough time so guess how we returned to the bus?   WRONG!!!!!!

GUESS AGAIN?????

ON A CAMEL!!!!!! OY VEY!!!!!!!!!!!! I was not a happy camper. It took three men to get me onto the camel. I am not a little old lady!!!! Finally I was up there hanging on for dear life!!!! It was bumpy! We went straight UP mountains!!!!! Did I mention how uncomfortable I was???? Finally just when we are near the top my guide says that there is a problem with the saddle and I have to get off!!!!!! SAY WHAT??????????? Apparently the saddle was slipping forward and we were climbing a mountain. The kid tried to get the camel to lie down but he wouldn’t. No one was coming to help until I yelled for my precious hubby!!!!!! Then help arrived. They got the camel to lie down and helped me off. I walked the rest of the way. The worst thing was I didn’t get a picture on the camel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We arrived home safe and sound – went out for supper and had a long walk on the Promenade. I walked in and out of stores but I couldn’t decide on anything. Finally tonight I went out determined to buy jewelery and the presents I needed. I think I am finished. I will check tomorrow.

Tomorrow we have to pack. We are going to my cousin’s for lunch and about five in the morning we leave for home.

Hubby and I had a wonderful, fantastic time together in Poland and Israel. It was a trip well worth the money and the time we spent together was great. I don’t think we are anxious to leave but all good things come to an end and so this trip ends tomorrow.

Good night. Take care.

Oh— you sound so good. The trip has done you a world of good and your husband seems to have improved too! 🙂 I’m very happy for you. — I think you have not been to Arizona or California – both places have desert mountains — especially the cities of Phoenix and Tucson, AZ.

Oops — I forgot Utah — they have magnificent desert mountains too.
