WHAT TO DO?-ok
Last night I went for coffee with a good friend. My hubby went to the country. I decided during the week that I didn’t want to rush out there as there is nothing to do. I told him to go ahead and enjoy. I will go later today.
Instead I will go on the treadmill, take a bubble bath, go out for lunch and finally drive to the trailer just in time for supper probably. So what?
If I was there maybe I would go shopping but I don’t want to spend money…………….I haven’t gone to the bank to deposit my savings so will do that on my way to the trailer.
While I was out with my friend last night I once again started to think about what I should do with the rest of my life. A tough question! I think I should volunteer as many of you suggested but I have to decide where. Do I want to work with old people? In a way yes because I would like to bring some sunshine into their lives. BUT would it be too depressing?
I spoke to my egg teacher today. She was sick and had to go to emergency. I see that this might be the beginning of the end. I didn’t have to tell her I wasn’t coming. She told me not to come. PERFECT!!!!! I have to find something to replace that class……something exciting!
My cousin is bored. She has to lose weight. She wants to go to Israel with her children next Spring. If she doesn’t get into shape she will NEVER be able to keep up with a tour. She said she loves dancing so I suggested we take a class. She is suppose to look up information on dance classes at the Golden Age. I am waiting to hear from her.
So now it’s on the treadmill. have a good one.
Here in our state, there is a volunteer program called Foster Grandparents. What they do is volunteer a certain number of hours per week in the public schools, helping with the kids….reading to them, whatever they need. A lot of the kids here are poor and don’t come from very good families and don’t get enough attention at home. One of my other OD friends volunteers at helping a child learn to read. As much as you love kids, I bet you would enjoy something like that also! hugs, Weesprite

I love woodsprite’s idea! I’m sure you’ll figure out what to do. Nice that you are putting much time into thinking about it before jumping into something.

How about holding and rocking babies at the local hospital?

I bet there is israeli dancing around where you are somewhere. You should do that, it is loads of fun! We have a lady that comes to mine and she is in her 80’s! Check it out here: http://www.israelidances.com/ :o)

Good luck with all of that!

I think that helping people – any people any age – makes you feel better, even if they are terminally ill. I’ve never found anyone that finds it depressing, curiously enough!

You just need to be around people as much as possible. Volunteering at a hospital or retirement home would be great for you, I think.

Some great notes here! I love that first suggestion. I think if you find something that allows you to a) help others and b) be active, you’ll be killing two birds with one stone.

Find something that you love to do. I think the dancing is a GREAT idea, as well as the foster grandparents. There’s work out there for any hobby, it’s just a matter of finding the right place. No matter what your preference is, you’ll find something that you and everyone else will enjoy.
